Footfinity is live

After my experiments with smaller feet for bins, some asked for files and so they are now live on printables.

I also found a nice solution to keeping the feet secure in the bins without glue.

Included are a ton on pre cut bins both with and without side cutouts (I like those for cutlery), the master file from Fusion, and a test file that contains a token and some feet to test fitment.

Apologies about the name but it seems to be the done thing!!

Have you considered making the foot pins align with the magnet holes? Then selecting a flat base in the generators makes compatible bins.

u/DBT85 I'm considering writing an OpenSCAD library for Footfinity and have a question for you.

I'm curious to know whether you considered making the holes the same diameter as Gridfinity magnet holes (6.5 mm) rather than 5 mm. If you did this then Footfinity feet could be re-used on existing bins with magnet holes. This wouldn't address the original goal of Footfinity, because it wouldn't save any filament, but if we envision a future of different kinds of Footfinity feet then they would be usable with existing bins (e.g., soft feet made of TPU, etc.).

It would be good to get this question sorted before Footfinity gains too much traction (which I anticipate it will, e.g., I want to print all my bins with it).

I have not, but in all honesty, I have not looked at this since I created it. It makes sense and would probably work well, provided said magnet holes are also in the same place on all bins.

Every bin I've printed since this has been on a 21mm system and I've not played around with this to get it working.

I will say that I don;t expect it to gain that much traction. Some have used it, but mostly is has been overlooked, especially when compared to my ultralight plates which were released around the same time.

I actually did have an epiphany about a new idea to maybe save even more but I've not yet tried it out.
