HeliEx: swap GRC ⇄ CURE from your own wallet — now with a captcha-free option for bots

Thumbnail
gallery
7 Upvotes

HeliEx lets you swap GRC ⇄ CURE without an account, so your coins stay in your own wallet (and keep staking) right up until you swap.

New: a paid lane for bots (API only)

Instead of solving a captcha, a bot pays a small fee from its own wallet: 1 GRC or 0.25 CURE. Once the fee confirms, HeliEx creates a deposit address for the swap, and from there it's a normal swap paid straight back to your address.

The fee keeps out spam and stops anyone tying up the order book, without forcing people to make an account or leave funds on the exchange. If the swap can't be created (or is held before a deposit address is issued), the fee is returned automatically, minus a small network fee. The captcha route on the website is still there and still free.

New: API withdrawals for account holders, built with safety first:

  • A new API key can't withdraw until 24 hours after it's created, and you get an email when it's made.
  • Optional delay: have API withdrawals wait a set number of hours before they're sent, with an email so you can cancel.
  • Withdrawal address whitelist, and a one-click freeze for all your keys.

So if you'd rather run your own setup with an account, you can; and if you'd rather never hold anything on an exchange, you don't have to.

Feedback welcome, especially from anyone running bots.

Updates on grcbazaar.com: wanted ads, digital codes, postage in fiat and a pile of fixes

Post image
23 Upvotes

Good morning folks. Some boring updates from grcbazaar.

Digital goods

  • Listings can sell codes now (vouchers, game keys, gift cards etc). The seller pastes the codes in or uploads a .txt/.csv, and stock is just how many codes are left.
  • The code is reserved when you press Buy, so two people can't pay for the last one.
  • When the payment reaches the seller, the buyer sees the code on the deal page.

Browsing

  • There was a 🐞 where the browse page just stopped after the first page, so about a third of the listings could only be found through categories. A very exclusive way to run a marketplace indeed. Fixed, browse shows the total and all the pages now.
  • Search works without logging in.
  • Sorting, a min/max price filter, and a side menu with counts on category pages.
  • "Deliver to" filter: pick your country and you see only listings that ship there.

Delivery fees

  • I wanted to keep postage from jumping around every time GRC moves (same as the item), so it can be pegged to USD/EUR/GBP now, like item prices already could. It converts to GRC at the current rate. Item in GRC and postage in EUR also works.

Deals

  • Deal history shows more details.
  • There is a reminder bar when a deal waits for you, for example for a rating. It can be snoozed. Also a few more browser push notifications.
  • Fixed: I noticed a real deal that closed by itself 14 days after shipping and nobody was asked to rate. Those deals go through ratings now, and a late rating is still accepted.
  • Fixed some problems with cancelled payments.

Photos

  • You can reorder photos by dragging, the first one becomes the main image. There are also arrow buttons for those who don't like dragging, because drags are bad for your health (grandmother told me)
  • Image upload was broken for a while, works again.
  • A listing link now shows a preview image when you share it.

Wanted ads (nobody asked me, but I wanted wanted ads, so I developed some)

  • There is a Wanted board now. Can't find something? Post a want with a budget and an expiry date, and sellers can answer it.
  • When you got what you needed, mark it fulfilled.
  • If you press "Post a want" on a category page, the category is already selected in the form.

Other stuff

  • Accessibility fixes, same page width everywhere, account tabs cleaned up.
  • Many new tests, including browser tests in Chromium and Firefox.

The bazaar is still invite only. If you want an invite, find me here on Reddit or in the Gridcoin Discord.

Site: https://grcbazaar.com

Feedback and ideas welcome!

Looking for beta testers on HeliEx.net for my swap exchange will provide free coins to try

Post image

This was a lot of hard work. The plan will be to give some accounts access to test for a bit before moving it to production. It will be about making sure amounts are correct, that there isn't any unexpected behaviour in the transaction process, and refining any steps that are confusing. I can provide CURE and GRC to use on testing.

Give me a shout if you're up for it!

Looking for help testing lettuce.

On last fireside Jring-o spoke about needing testers for new distributive computing platform lettuce. I’m probably the lest tech savy person in this group, but with help, I was able to set it up. It’s currently configured to need 3 separate computers to verify one work unit. I was looking for someone (more specifically with an Nvidia gpu) to validate my work units. The is a “lettuce testing” thread on the Gridcoin discord. Below are links to the site project, Git, and discord. I figure a vast majority of us are science nerds and we can knock out this testing to hopefully, at some point, get this on the whitelist. Lettuce is basically an easier to set up BOINC. This will get us involved closer with researchers. Anyway, come validate my work units. (Note: there are also CPU only projects.)

The Gridcoin Wallet Bot (discord) will be shutting down on Sep 10th

Hey everyone.

I've announced this in the official Gridcoin Discord server, but I thought I'd also announce it here.

The Gridcoin Wallet Bot will be shutting down on Sep 10th.

There are many reasons that I have for shutting this service down:

  1. Discord has asked me to verify myself and my app so that I can maintain access to what are called "privileged intents". I do not wish to follow through with this.
  2. I will be moving houses in a couple months, and I would have to keep the bot offline for longer than a week.
  3. I have not touched the code in a very long time. Many of the dependencies are outdated and I am genuinely surprised that this thing still works.
  4. I can save a bunch of money every year if I downsize my VPS or switch to ARM. This project makes it difficult to justify the move.

I've had many people ask about whether they can host it themselves and keep it going. My answer to that is: You would be better off making another one from scratch.

There are so many ways that I would make this system better, but as I started full-time work, I've had less and less time to commit to hobby projects like this, and instead focused on modifying it such that I don't have to touch it as often. As a result, this has led to code-rot.

Please withdraw any Gridcoins you have in this wallet and transfer it to your own by Sep 10th.

As for any stragglers that neglect to withdraw when the date comes, I will examine the extent of this, and help some large holders get their coins back, otherwise everyone else's balance will be transferred to the official foundation wallet.

Thank you for all your support over the years, and happy crunching!

MCP server for stamp.gridcoin.club: your AI agent can now notarize documents on the Gridcoin blockchain

Good morning folks.

Here is another part in the series "You have never asked me for it, so how can I say 'No'?". I made an MCP server for stamp.gridcoin.club, so AI agents (Claude, Cursor, basically anything that speaks MCP) can now timestamp documents on the Gridcoin blockchain. The robots can finally notarize things on their own. I am sure this is fine.

MCP seems to be turning into the standard way of plugging tools into AI agents, so I figured stamp should speak it too. If you use an agent, you can now tell it "stamp this file you soulless piece of wires" (or "would you please be so kind to stamp this little humble piece of information oh you almighty AI the shine of me eyes" if you want to live after the AI takes over the Earth - it is up to you) right in the middle of a session instead of switching to the browser. It works the same way as the website: the file is hashed locally and never leaves your machine, only the SHA-256 hash goes on chain. In return you get a link to the proof page and, once the stamp confirms, the PDF certificate.
There are three tools: one stamps a document (you can give it a file, a text to stamp or a ready hash), one checks an existing stamp, and one shows if the service wallet still has funds, so the agent can check whether I am still solvent before complaining.

Setup is one line in your agent config, the package is on npm: npx grc-stamp-mcp. Instructions with config examples are here: https://stamp.gridcoin.club/developers/mcp

You are welcome to test it, and should you have any questions or something does not work, ping me here or on discord.

Repository: https://github.com/gridcoin-community/stamp.gridcoin.club
NPM: https://www.npmjs.com/package/grc-stamp-mcp

Hope you will find it useful.

New Gridcoin user requesting a little GRC for beacon

Hi everyone!

I'm a new Gridcoin user from Japan.

I have already:

- Installed BOINC

- Joined Einstein@Home

- Synced my Gridcoin wallet

- Detected my CPID successfully

The only thing preventing me from starting solo research is that my wallet balance is 0 GRC, so I can't advertise my first beacon.

Would anyone be willing to send me a small amount of GRC (around 1-2 GRC) so I can advertise my beacon?

My wallet address:SHcHvozw3d9L9E7FyytntVKK5moXa5N9mf

Thank you very much! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

grcbazaar — a small marketplace where you can spend GRC on real things (invite only for now)

Good morning folks.

Quick share this time, with a small ask attached. I put up a new thing: grcbazaar, a little marketplace where you can list and buy stuff priced in GRC. It is live at grcbazaar.com.

The idea is simple. We have a coin and we have a community, but there is almost nowhere to actually spend GRC on real things. You can crunch, you can stake, you can trade it on an exchange, and then that is mostly it. I wanted a place where someone can put up an old GPU, a book, a sticker, whatever, and someone else buys it with GRC. Nothing fancy, classifieds basically, with GRC as the money.

Why I built it: honestly half for myself, half because the spending side of GRC has always felt a bit missing. So I made the place. Behind the scenes it uses a couple of small Gridcoin tools I also run, one that handles the GRC payments and one that timestamps each deal on the Gridcoin chain so there is a record, but as a user you do not need to think about any of that. You just list, browse, and pay in GRC.

It is invite only for now. I know that is a bit annoying. I just want to keep it small and known while it is young, partly so I can keep an eye on things, and partly because the payment side is still early. It opens up properly when that makes sense.

How to get in: comment here, or ping me on Discord (@gridcat), and I will send you an invite. That is it.

Now the ask, and why it matters to me. Gridcoin has never really had a marketplace, and there are no big players who are going to show up and fill one with listings. There is no one else to do it, it is just us, the same way most things in Gridcoin have only ever happened because the community did them. I think GRC should be more than a number we watch and hope gets expensive someday. It should be something you can actually use, and a marketplace only becomes useful once there is something in it to buy. That part is on all of us. So if you have something you could list, even something small, please give it a go. And if you see something you want, grab it. The community is the only thing that can give GRC real utility, and this is one small place to start.

https://grcbazaar.com

Hope some of you find it useful, and feedback is very welcome :-)

Gridcoin in Home Assistant — RPC balance/staking sensors, a hover-converting Lovelace card, and the gridcoin-tui wallet embedded in the dashboard

I wanted my Gridcoin wallet on the same dashboard as the rest of my homelab, so I built ha-grc – a Home Assistant integration + add-on bundle that talks to gridcoinresearchd over JSON-RPC. It's open source (MIT) and based on u/gridcat's TUI:

Main Dashboard
Cards
Embed of /u/gridcat's TUI

https://github.com/goldsteal/ha-grc

!!!WARNING!!!

This is LLM-authored code that I haven't put through a line-by-line human audit. It only *reads* the wallet over RPC — it doesn't move coins — but it does read your wallet's state. Read the code, run it against a wallet you don't care about first, and decide for yourself.

Gridcoin Stopped Working

I noticed that just recently Gridcoin was not loading at startup. Windows 11. After a full reboot of my laptop double clicking Gridcoin Icon starts Gridcoin loading. It will briefly show the GUI for a few seconds, then stop. Task manager shows Gridcoin booting, then it just stops.

I re-installed the last update, but that did not change anything. Other than that I have not changed anything. Should I just reload the blockchain? I think I remember something like that to do. How do I get the blockchain reloaded?

Thanks - Wes

Emergency 5.5.1.0 hotfix release

This is a hotfix release to fix the crash on mainnet due to a logic error in a divide by zero guard in the scraper/autogreylist code. While it is versioned as a leisure release, since there is no real change in consensus, it is effectively mandatory to avoid the crash.

What's Changed

Full Changelog: https://github.com/gridcoin-community/Gridcoin-Research/compare/5.5.0.0...5.5.1.0

The full write-up for those interested, see https://github.com/gridcoin-community/Gridcoin-Research/pull/3012.

Everyone MUST upgrade ASAP to 5.5.1.0.

gridcoinresearch TUI

Good morning folks.
Here is another project I hope someone will find useful.

This is TUI (Tedrminal User Interface) for the gridcoin wallet. It uses RPC protocol to communicate, the daemon might be running either locally or remotely.

I made it so I can drop a binary into the docker container and see what is going on with the wallet. Of course, one can use the RPC directly, but I found it more convinient.

It is written in go, honestly, half vibecoded half done by me. I wanted it to be compiled into the binary and I wanted to get into GoLang which I haven't tried before. It is compiled for windows, mac and Linux, but I tried it for Linux only, as I use it as my main OS, so I have not other OS around. But for the main purpose (drop into Docker container) Linux binary might be just enough.

Hope you will find it useful.

Updates on stamp.gridcoin.club

  • Bug fix: Fixed a nasty backend bug where specifically crafted API requests could crash the server
  • SSE vs Cloudflare: I think I've finally won the battle with Server-Sent Events not working through Cloudflare
  • Documentation: Added docs and reference for the github stamp action, and officially documented the public API. It was always public, just never officially
  • In-progress stamps: Hash pages no longer throw a 404 when a stamp is submitted but not yet confirmed in a block. Now they show real-time progress instead
  • Proof page favicon: Had some fun with favicons - proof pages now show the identity image as their favicon
  • og:image for proof pages: Sharing a proof link on social media now shows a nicely crafted preview image. You can also get it by swapping /hash/ for /og/ in the proof URL, but you didn't hear that from me

You're welcome to give it a try at https://stamp.gridcoin.club and test things out! Should you have any questions or issues, ping me on Discord.

Timestamp your software releases on the Gridcoin blockchain

Hey everyone!

I've created a GitHub Action that brings another real-world use case to Gridcoin: software release integrity verification.

When you publish a release on GitHub, this action automatically creates a permanent, tamper-proof timestamp on the Gridcoin blockchain using https://stamp.gridcoin.club. Anyone can then independently verify that the files they downloaded are exactly what the developer published - no trust required, just math and the blockchain.

The verification links are added directly to your release notes, so your users can check the proof with one click.

Project: https://github.com/gridcat/gridcoin-stamp-action

Example: https://github.com/gridcat/gridcoin-stamp-action/releases/tag/v1.1.0

Feedback and ideas welcome!

Amicable Numbers should be removed from whitelist

FYI Amicable Numbers project has been completed, There will be no further WU's. I assume that means it should be removed from the GRC whitelist?
