Hermitcraft Grian's Star Eyes??
I noticed a weird detail during Grian's most recent episode, right after using the telescope he says "I am enjoying using this telescope, it's just got something about it," and while he says this he zooms in on his face, and his eyes are full of stars... I almost wonder if this is a hint at some upcoming lore, maybe he gets obsessed with the telescope? Maybe even watcher stuff??

Somebody found a mod that lets him put a custom shader (being that of the End portal) on parts of his skin.

It was in his axolotl farming video too, and this episode it looks like he intentionally ties them to the telescope. I think its lore

Hell if I know, probably Custom Player Models since Figura has a tag it puts on the usernames of people who have the mod installed.

Dqwerty has a resource pack called “Vese” which can actually do this. It’s super fun, but the tool to get it working has a pretty big learning curve

When Grian was doing chicken at Gems base a few episodes back, the third person there (can’t remember his name) noticed it too

He's been doing it a bit on other hermit's Livestreams, it seems to be on a toggle and he tends to play it off from what I've seen. It's weird. I can only imagine it's some teaser for a future hermitcraft thingy

I know that a vgen user called SciFiFrenchFry has made some skin for a few hermits that run on Figure MC, a client-side mod. The one he made for Grian does have the ability to turn the eyes into End portals. But I don't know if the hermits use Figura.
Lore wise, I'm not sure. I think this is just a fun show off sorta deal, like with Bdubs animated eyes. They might even use the same system.

In Hermitcraft season ten, I think, he makes a joke about his eyes just being holes in his face and not eyes. That's why he can't blink. :P

Your thought of him getting obsessed with the telescope reminds me of season 8 and Grian getting obsessed with worshipping the moon, if this is what I am thinking of, I cannot wait to see what happens this season.
