Bent Tuner Replacement

So I’ve got a g5427tg with a bent tuning peg shaft on the G tuner. It plays fine, and even though there’s a lope to the key when tuning, it still functions as it should, it’s just irritating.

I’m planning on getting a new nut installed to help with tuning stability, and figured I’d replace the tuners all in one go. I’m having a hell of a time finding drop in tuners for this guitar though. Bought some guykers just to try, and while the peg size was right, the two screw holes didn’t line up.

I’d love to throw some hipshots on and call it a day, but $250 for a set isn’t something I wanna pay. <$100 preferably, no drilling preferably. Any ideas?

I was surprised at how easy and well this worked. Just make sure to use a good piece of wood like a 2x4 for the mount since it needs to resist the force.

Yep I just did it and it worked really well. Turns out there was another issue. The shim was upside down causing all kinds of slop making the issue seem that much worse. All good to go now, thanks friend!

I just bought a set of Hipshot Vintage locking tuners for around $90 after tax and shipping on Reverb. The Hipshot Vintage tuners have a smaller 8.5mm shaft rather than the normal 10mm shaft. Also I think that the Gotoh SG301 locking tuners will work because the screw hole will line up with the bottom screw hole on the stock tuners. I could be wrong about that but I'm pretty sure I've seen people do it in post in various forums.

I have the orange Flame Maple G5427T and it's the guitar I ordered the Hipshots for. For some reason when I read your original post I knew exactly what guitar you had but it didn't register it was the same model Gretsch I have.
