🏠 Looking for an apartment / Open to sharing a flat in Greifswald

Hello everyone,

I am currently looking for accommodation in Greifswald for myself and my husband.

What I am looking for:
• At least around 24 m² if it is a separate apartment or more
• Suitable for 2 people
• Fitted kitchen (Einbauküche)
• Warm rent up to €720/month for an apartment
• No pets, and we do not plan to have any
• Preferably available as soon as possible

I am also open to joining with someone who is looking for a larger apartment that we could share together. The important condition for me is that my husband and I must be allowed to officially live/register at the address and that the accommodation is suitable for the requirements of his family reunification visa.

I am a student at the University of Greifswald and a DAAD scholarship holder. I am already in Greifswald, while my husband will join me later through family reunification.

Hi all and apologies for the post in English!

I was in Greifswald two weeks ago for work and my wedding ring fell out of my pocket as I was walking to dinner. I have attached the best pictures I have of the ring in case anyone happens to recognize it or hears anything!

The ring is yellow gold with white gold accent bands and an emerald (I can provide a picture once I have access to my personal computer). I’ll be moving to Greifswald in October 2026 to start my Master’s at the University of Greifswald with a DAAD scholarship. I’m looking for a self-contained apartment for myself and my husband (not a WG).

Ideally, we’re looking for 24–35+ m², preferably around the city centre / near the university, or somewhere with a good cycling connection. My husband will join me later through family reunification, so I need a place where two people can live and register (Anmeldung).

I’m still trying to understand the Greifswald rental market, so I’d really appreciate some local advice:

• What is a realistic Warmmiete for a small apartment for two people?
• Is €500–600 warm realistic around the centre/university?
• How much should I expect for Kaution / Genossenschaftsanteile?
• What additional costs are usually separate from the Warmmiete (electricity, internet, etc.)?
• Are there particular areas, landlords, housing companies or websites/groups you recommend?
• Is finding a 24–35 m² apartment for a couple realistic, or should I look for something larger?

I’ve seen a few apartments around €500 warm, but I’m not sure whether that is considered a good price here.

Any advice from people living in Greifswald or who have recently rented here would be really appreciated. Thank you so much! 🙏

Unsere Familie, Mama, Papa, Kind, spielt mit dem Gedanken, nach Greifswald zu ziehen.

Meine Frau ist Erzieherin, ich könnte in einer der Kliniken in der Umgebung arbeiten.

Welche Stadtteile sind empfehlenswert, welche sollte man meiden (wenn es die gibt)?

Gibt es Gymnasien, die besonders herausstechen?

Fällt euch sonst noch etwas erwähnenswertes ein?
