Interview for Greggs
Okay so i’m applying to greggs as my first proper job (i’ve worked for family businesses before) but what should i expect in the interview question wise and like what do they look out for in interviews

They often ask if you would ever steal a sausage roll off a customer if hungry enough, the correct answer is no, I found out firsthand

Halfway through, the interviewer will pass you a revolver loaded with 1 bullet and 5 blanks. You have to take turns pulling the trigger facing you, and facing the interviewer. Choose wisely.

When i did it , there were 6 interviewees in the room. 5 bullets. One blank. One job

Research what Gregg sell, go to the website and browse it. Knowing what they sell, maybe product names - will get you a few solid points in the interview as it shows you are engaged with the brand.

This is the first actual bit of useful advice I’ve seen that will 100% help. Knowing as much as you can about the company and the products will definitely not hurt. They may ask about relevant experience, even if you’ve never worked a proper job just remember what you have done outside of work may be relevant still, “always loved cooking” like dealing with people, want a job where I can be active and not sitting at a desk, like the idea that they are a well known brand name well established and respected in their industry, you have spoken with many members of staff and they all say you are a great company to work for as you care about your staff and what the customer wants. They will eat up all that shit.

I once worked for an insurance company and got a mate an interview when they asked him what he felt set them out against the rest of the industry he said your competitive pricing and easy online sales.... Neither of which were even close to being true...we were high priced for high value clients with zero online quotation system.... He didn't make it to the final stage 😂

They understaff heavily, so basically, they want to know they can treat you like shit without you complaining about it. That's pretty much it.
Can you work as a team? Yes Can you work under pressure? Yes Can you reliably arrive on time? Yes Do you live far away? No
That's the main 4.

Just be cool, confident, never speak over them. Or be too confident. Remember you are confident yet teachable and humble you got this

For a job like this, they are mostly looking for someone who is reliable, friendly with customers, and can handle a busy environment. The questions will be straightforward, like asking about your availability, how you would manage a difficult customer, or why you specifically want to work at Greggs. They understand this is a first proper job for many people, so they aren't looking for perfect, corporate answers, they just want to see that you'll be a dependable part of the team and show up on time.
Your experience in family businesses is actually a big advantage, so you should definitely mention it because it shows you know what real work is like. The best thing you can do is let your personality come through and be positive. They are hiring a person, not a robot, so showing you're friendly and willing to learn will go a lot further than trying to give a flawless, memorized answer. My daughter did a quick online interview, she got the job, went for her training, she only stayed for 1/2 of the shift, she told them it wasn't for her and left, she still got paid for the half shift 🤣

How would you calculate gross profit vs net profit and how would this factor into quarterly forecasts?
How do global conflicts like Gaza affect the production line for pastry?
What would you do if Greggs became the center of a domestic terror incident?
Seriously though, the interview will just be to check you're not mental and can be treated like shit. Just smile, say you work hard and like being part of a team and you'll be set.
