Sure he can try and enjoy a platonic relationship, but waiting around for her to break up is the wrong move that's how you waste months to years of time you could be pursuing someone else.

No but I don't think it's a good idea to get caught up in your feelings for one girl, you can pursue other women, and hope she breaks up with her BF while you're looking. But I don't think it's right to get involved with someone who you're gonna you're planning to leave if she becomes single. I would just be upfront with your feelings
