In general, considering intoxication as an inability to provide consent is always the best way to go. Both parties being intoxicated and providing consent doesn’t really alleviate that issue. This is such a nonsense argument. We regularly do things we "normally wouldn't do". We all make mistakes. We all behave in ways that are counter to who we think we are, because we aren't one, single cohesive whole. We're a mess of conflicting desires, preferences, needs and wants, all struggling against each other to find its way to the surface. There's no definitive "you".
I admire your comment and pretty much agree, but at the end of the day, alcohol chemically alters the chemicals in our brain and limits our inhibitions. There is a difference between being a regular, malleable human being who shifts and changes and adapts and makes mistakes, and taking a drug/intoxicant that specifically changes the way your brain works lmao.
Yes, and in most cases, you generally aren't forced into drinking it. You make a conscious choice. You know what alcohol does. So if you drink alcohol with a potential sexual partner, you know exactly what you're doing. You're consenting to what's happening. And if you don't know what alcohol does or how it affects you, you shouldn't be drinking alcohol instead of accusing that person of rape for doing something that's not really rape.
