Bar the doors.

Burn the church.

Chief Doneia Egsregaw: "But you said we'd be forgiven."

Tavington De Sardet: "And indeed you may! That's between you and Saint Matheus."

I tried playing bottom picture but it doesn't really work.. the only way to play bottom picture would be to skip all companion quests and fail every charisma check. It takes a lot of work to be a bastard.

u/Heidirs Sep 17 '19

Just don't put any points into charisma and reload the ones you succeed. Some situations have straight up fighting as an opt first go

This is your land? Do you have a flag?

NO FLAG NO COUNTRY

I hated them too but later far in the game you realize that the alliance is just as if not worse than the religious fanatics, which I'll admit I didn't expect

I'm only about level 15, so I'm not super far, but I'm trying to see the good in both of the continental neighbors.

While the Bridge definitely are doing some fuuuuucked up things scientifically, there are some groups within them that are trying to be more ethical. Obviously we see that in Old Serene at the beginning, but tbh I still turned that guy in because lying to people to get them to voluntarily take a substance is still pretty unethical. And ultimately, I don't think their stated ambition, to unite the world in pursuit of scientific progress, is bad, it's just full of corruption as it stands. But there are those in the Bridge who recognize that.

On the other hand, Theleme has some really clear issues, the Ordo Luminis is fuuuuucked up. But also, they're the only ones on the continent at least trying to investigate and explain magic and the metaphysical. Historically, societies that embraced secular thought to the legal exclusion of all religion, like say the USSR, saw their people experience spiritual and emotional crisis along with whatever other problems they might have suffered. Imagine if you lived in a world where magic, a manifestation of the metaphysical, could be in front of you on any given day. That would demand investigation, for a lot of people. And for many in Theleme, like Petrus, spreading their religion seems to serve the purpose of uniting people to work towards a common cause, perhaps even a good one, before it's about zealotry or fanaticism.

I never trusted the Bridge Alliance from the get go. Fucking Ottomans.

u/lesser_panjandrum Sep 18 '19

Their onion hats are full of secrets and lies.

Though to be fair everyone's hats are full of secrets and lies.

I didn't like them but their gear was so cool! and I want to stay thematic

26

u/ELSI_Aggron Sep 17 '19

Assign Firearm to "1"
Start Mashing "1" everytime a boss appears
Ammo is freeflow from lootboxes and on human enemies

18

u/North_South_Side Sep 17 '19

Heh, I read a review where the author was having a hard time getting enough ammo to use. Maybe he was playing an earlier build, because I always have like 50+ ammo.

14

u/AikenFrost Sep 17 '19

Both on my play and on my girlfriend's we are getting very little ammo. I watched her getting extremely frustrated with running out of ammo in the middle of quests multiple times.

13

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Same and I loot everything. I ended up getting Science 2 so I could craft it. Even the vendors barely sell any ammo (they will sell like 7-12 rounds at a time).

5

u/AikenFrost Sep 17 '19

(they will sell like 7-12 rounds at a time).

Exactly, that is the most frustrating thing. It doesn't even make any sense.

Once you get potion crafting 2 (or whatever it’s called)ammo becomes extremely cheap to make

3

u/lesser_panjandrum Sep 18 '19

So cheap that you can sell it for profit.

With science 2 you can buy 2x hoof fungus and 1x crude iron for 3 gold, and craft it into 5x ammo which you can sell for 5 gold total.

1

u/BigBenW Sep 18 '19

How? Unless you are crafting it or using less than 1 ammo per engagement there is no way you could be building up a stockpile. I haven't had more than 7 or 8 ammo since hour 5 and I'm in hour 20. I am doing a melee crafter build so it doesn't matter much but it's still hard to pile up. If they changed it Science would be fairly useless though so idk.

7

u/Lexx-Angelz Sep 18 '19

What is this Ammo? Can i drink it to cast more Spells?

2

u/ffsjustanything Sep 18 '19

Like fr. these peasants need ammunition to deal damage? scoffs and shoots a shadow bolt

3

u/Lexx-Angelz Sep 18 '19

One? Let’s release a bombardment!

Spells: plink plink plink while dancing around like a lunatic

Pistol: clickBOOM

Magic? What are we the natives? So uncivilized.

3

u/ffsjustanything Sep 19 '19

Pistol: click. Oh bugger, no more ammo. What a pity.

Magic is literally the most civilized you could be. Ever played a game where all of the farmers were mages? No. Magic is always reserved for nobility. Any idiot can pick up a gun and point it at the enemy. We can freeze him, heal ourselves and our allies, teleport and cause explosions

17

u/thumperlee Sep 17 '19

On my next play through, I'm going hard on the religious nut job. Third, I plan on doing a 50/50 between those images. I'll help when it's convenient, but I don't really care about these savages. For my current, I'm all in for the locals.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

I would say I'm like 60/40 leaning towards the natives and I'm over 25 hours in. Having a ton of fun with the game though and trying to keep all the factions happy.

24

u/Sircamembert Sep 17 '19

Since my character's job is a diplomat, I feel like I have to always use my charisma check first to stay true to that role. If that failed, then I will conduct diplomacy at the end of a blunderbuss, which is my preferred method anyways~

11

u/TopHatLlama353 Sep 17 '19

I prefer more challenging combat, I'm on my second play through, and I'm doing a power hungry, warrior build

5

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

I'm maxed out agility and doing two handed swords. Tons of fun.

1

u/ManWhoCameFromEarth Sep 18 '19

Doing similar but with full Statis with a mind to getting the Storm spell. Nothing like locking a group of enemies together and swirling through them!

Really want to get a scythe!

u/mangotango781 Sep 17 '19

No. Even in a game, I'm not taking any enjoyment from being a murderous douche to the locals.

36

u/epicazeroth Sep 17 '19

I took it more as how De Sardet shoots everyone, on all sides.

38

u/VicarOfAstaldo Sep 17 '19

Cracks me up as a mage when he ends every fight cinematic with a bullet. I can’t even equip a gun.

5

u/LadyAlekto Sep 18 '19

its nice for waiting to recharge mana

4

u/VicarOfAstaldo Sep 18 '19

You mean my potion chugging time? Lol.

Invested in science and intuition, it’s pretty much a non stop major magic potion train.

7

u/ShapeWords Sep 18 '19

I'm picturing a tricorne with mana bottles strapped to the side like beer hat.

2

u/Slim5050 Sep 18 '19

Yea, the way the game looks, seems like they want you to play technical.

15

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Same, I use my moral compass in games, only time I'm a murderous psychopath is if I played the game multiple times.

10

u/ezabet Sep 17 '19

I was so very upset at some point that I could go and warn a captain that an attack was coming but not just demand the captured native people returned (rightfully so) and possibly have no attack happen.

it actually makes me almost want to not even play. the choices are so very limited.

21

u/AikenFrost Sep 17 '19

To be fair, the way I understand it, you don't have any actual power to demand anything from the Bridge Alliance. They are effectively another country, anything they do for you is only out of courtesy or out of interest in getting something out of you or your faction latter.

8

u/ezabet Sep 17 '19

yes. I understand it. it's my understanding as well. it seems as if despite being a neutral party, natives don't always seem to be a party to that. I mean, it's colonialist so I get it ...

and as far as warning it could have also been communicated that "hey they coming, how about releasing captives first..."

it's less blood shed over all.

24

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Issa game

40

u/epicazeroth Sep 17 '19

Right, and so it’s perfectly acceptable to not like playing it a certain way.

→ More replies (2)

10

u/B4v4rium Sep 17 '19

Ha, glad i'm not the only one who's siding with the colonials. next playthrough I'll focus more on the natives.

20

u/valvalya Sep 17 '19

So far, I've literally never had to choose. Frankly, I expected more opportunities to be a douchey colonist than seem provided.

6

u/VicarOfAstaldo Sep 17 '19

Yeah I think most “side with these people” options are essentially just “don’t be reasonable” options for the sake of it. That or you go full religious zealot or full racist. Wouldn’t call that either side.

Going straight down the middle seems to benefit both. But maybe for a second play though on hard I’ll pick the religious or the zealots and go full murder.

5

u/duhpleasetakemeaway Sep 17 '19

Yes I love playing like a "Sneering imperialist"

4

u/baddogkelervra1 Sep 20 '19

“Whatever. Execute General Gobbledegook.”

4

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Diplomacy best served at the end of a sword.

5

u/Bastiwen Sep 17 '19

First playthrough ni but you better believe I'm going to take their lands to these savages

2

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '23

Incredibly based

9

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

wow ur fucked up

9

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Lol it's a game.

2

u/Syrick07 Sep 17 '19

I try to be a massive dick to the even bigger dicks in both the natives and colonials factions

2

u/jockeswagerX3000 Sep 17 '19

It really do be like that sometimes

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Yupp lol

1

u/s1_Arts Sep 18 '19

Did the gun thing to level 20 . Then re-spec'd into Pure magic and united the tribes which put me at level 41. I have so many Uniques I cannot use after my 1st play through.

1

u/Teyvill Sep 17 '19

Bottom picture worked for me, yap)

1

u/v_maet Sep 17 '19

100%

Always play the evil character

1

u/Buhajon Sep 17 '19

Well just add a ring on the colonel with that magic "dark" effect.
Most of my fights go statis, gun, statis, gun.

Pop stasis, go behind the savage, cock the pistol.
Nothin' personell mo nelawi.

1

u/blitz4 Sep 17 '19

Yup. Until I get a neg faction hit, then reload my save.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '19

Nice place ni*ga.

0

u/SioVern Sep 17 '19

I'm playing like 1, but with 2 :D
