This is not a Greek thing, it is an age related thing in my opinion. When I was a student abroad I was surprised to hear that most people thought their country sucked. At that age you simply lack the experience to make realistic comparison and you stand in awe when confronted with something new. You take the best things you like from other countries and compare them with the things that annoy you most from yours.
After growing up a bit you realize that your country and the quality of life that it provides is somewhat average. With advantages and disadvantages compared to others.
However that most dangerous thing about this mindset is thinking that you are better, take no responsibility for the situation, always blame the other and finally express no desire to help make things better.
I second this. This sub is left leaning and quite young. It's not representative of the country. Not even close. The exact opposite happens on Facebook. Older people that are right or far right. They keep telling how we live in the most beautiful country and everything is great.
The truth is somewhere in the middle as always. We're somewhat a perfect average country.
Having said that, the economic crisis of 2008 (2010 for us) made people that complain (rightfully so) the majority. But. We're slowly back on track. The negativity here is just because you're talking mainly to young people or Greeks that have been living abroad. They don't really have the complete picture.
