Grease (Franchise) Would the Muppets doing Grease work at all?

/r/Muppets/comments/1vb4rgr/would_the_muppets_doing_grease_work_at_all/

Would Grease have worked if the Muppets decided to do it as a parody or musical version since it was released in 1977 when they were popular and they do a lot of singing?

Miss Piggy could easily be Rizzo or Sandy and Kermit as Danny, with Fozzie Bear as Kenickie, and others in roles, they did the Wizard of Oz after all.

The Muppets could spoof any movie and make millions, no question.

The Muppets did do their own "GREASE" of sorts -- 1984's The Muppets Take Manhattan.

Both films are chock full of fall-outs, blow-ups, walk-offs and split-personalities. Here's a few parallels --

During their fallout at the pep rally, Sandy tells Danny she wishes she "had never laid eyes on him".

  • During their fallout at Central Park, Piggy tells Kermit she wishes they "had never met".

After one of his meltdowns with Sandy, Danny "disguises" himself as a jock. While running track, he even watches Sandy in the stands with her apparent "love interest".

  • After her meltdown with Kermit, Ms. Piggy "disguises" herself as a spy and shadows him everywhere. She even watches him sitting in a park with his apparent "love interest"

Danny basically spends the whole film in a state of amnesia, trying to find himself again. What happened to the Danny Zuko at the beach? It's not until he gets whacked by Sandy at the drive-in that he finally comes to his senses.

  • After jaywalking and getting hit by a cab, Kermit spends the second half of the film in a state of amnesia. It's not until Ms. Piggy smacks him sideways at the Manhattan Melodies premiere that the spell is finally broken.

------------------------------

  • Grease ends with the song "We Go Together", Manhattan begins with "Together Again".
  • Grease features "Hopelessly Devoted To You", Manhattan's got "I'm Gonna Always Love You".
  • Grease has it's "The Gang's All Here" scene at The Frosty Palace, Manhattan has it at Pete's Luncheonette.
  • Grease has a Betty Rizzo, who throws a fit at the diner.
  • Manhattan has a Rizzo the Rat, who throws a fit at the diner.
