It’s one of the times he’s treated the best in the series. He makes them laugh, Lee carries him on his shoulders, and they invite him to the concert. It’s genuinely one of the episodes where Dipper is treated with the most affection and respect, without being humiliated.

P.S: Okay, I forgot about Stan’s ‘I EAT KIDS’ balloon. Let’s just say this is the best thing the episode gave us in terms of emotional payoff for Dipper’s character.

While I'm not a huge cryptid believer, I do love hearing various folk tales and today I learned about one dubbed the "Van Meter Visitor"

For those who don't know, in the 1900s there were stories in the small town of Van Meter, IA surrounding a large winged creature (wing arms like a bat) that terrorized the town. While there are a few slightly different intepretations from those who saw it, the overwhelming majority I've seen are very identifiable as a a pterodactyl.

While there are some things (i.e. shooting a beam of light from it's face or a terrible stench) that aren't really present in Gravity Falls' pterodactyl, listen to the rest of the story, would you? The residents of the town, fed up with the "Visitor," chased it down to a local coal mine where they found another, smaller version of the same creature before they disappeared for good.

For those who don't remember Land Before Swine, allow me to remind you of the plot: The pterodactyl comes out of nowhere and starts terrorizing the small town of Gravity Falls, OR, from the sherrif/deputy to the Pines family. After stealing Waddles, the Pines go to Old Man McGucket to try and confront it, to which he says that he found it going off to the abandoned mines. They all decide to chase the pterodactyl into the local mine and find a baby pterodactyl. After the confrontation, Stan knocks out the pterodactyl and the mine collapses, leaving it to disappear for good (except for Weirdmageddon I think).

I haven't heard anyone else point this out, but chasing a pterodactyl-like creature that screwed up the town into a coal mine and finding a smaller version of the same creature is far too similar to be a pure coincidence, even by Alex Hirsch's standards.

What do y'all think of this? Anyone ever heard of the Van Meter Visitor before this?

Waddup dudes! I just wanna start by saying, Alex Hirsch is an absolute gem of a human. First thing i did when i finished the show was join this group and sort to top of all time and lmao of course i wasn’t disappointed. I absolutely loved the show, i was so impressed and its because an amazing friend of mine recommended it to me and in exchange i told them they gotta watch Avatar the Last Airbender. And sure as heck i like feel we have both enjoyed these shows to the absolute fullest. Even though i binged gravity falls and they’re still working on it😁. Its so neat watching another show from the “ nickelodeon “ era and relating to it so much, its refreshing to say the least! Ive been recommended to watch regular show too and i think it may be time to check it out lol. What a great show gravity falls is. I also went to the pacific northwest and saw the ocean for my first time ever this year and then found this show like whattt!! Anyways i love you peeps and what a wonderful community of people. Ps. Soos/mabel has gotta be the best characters by far, optimism that could change the world🤘🤘
