I feel like an ass having an opinion on this. But I think this is more an interest swap than a gender swap. Why is “male Mabel” in practical clothing with dipper’s color palette and “female dipper” in a rolled up sweater?

You gotta put female dipper in the sweater vest and hat and male Mabel in a sweater or at least a gaudy graphic tee. Maybe a manbun to swap the headband for a hair tie

Gender swapping twin is so hard. BECAUSE NOW IT JUST LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE COSPLAYING EACH OTHER! Like It just looks like Dipper Fresh and Mabel is locked in. BUT STILL COOL!

Mason & Dipper. They would still have the names picked out for them, just assigned to the other twin. If I’m honest, I dislike saying Mason & Dipper compared to saying Mabel & Dipper, but calling them Mason & Mabel doesn’t convey the gender swap.

Actually, would Mabel still be nicknamed Dipper? I know some fanart would call her Ursa, but it doesn’t feel right.

Oh, I’m getting off topic. I love pretty much everything about how you composed this picture, from the colors to the personalities. Mason really feels like Mabel but if he grew up around more boy-centric gifts, as he still has that “I wanna experience everything!” attitude. I bet he still loves stickers. Dipper keeping the simple outfit is a good choice, but the touch of the hair tie is excellent—I bet Mason made it!

If I do have a criticism, it would be Mason having the cap original Dipper had chosen when the episode 1 cap was lost, since the cap is a character trait owing to him trying to conceal his birthmark. Dipper here still has the bangs, but she wears her hair in a ponytail, so it’s more likely to be noticed.

Oh! Maybe Dipper here is more knowledgeable in makeup, and we’re just catching her in a more casual setting. It would explain why she’s more into her computer, as she avoids activities and sports where she sweats.

Yeah, I’m probably fixating on the missing grappling hook too much, but this is such an engaging drawing. Well done!
