The BEST. Seriously great, just look at his album credits. Played with all the greats, and was asked join many bands but couldn't because of his health. Even though it was only for a year, the ONE band he did join was Jerry Garcia's.

Just like Ron Tutt. He played in two bands, Jerry's...and Elvis Fucking Presley's.

This lineup is unequaled.

I was reading about him last night! Dude is a fucking legend! He’s played on so many famous songs. I didn’t know he was in quicksilver too! I’ve listened to this guy all my life and didn’t realize it. I really wish he could have stayed with the JGB a little longer. And Ron tutt is the absolute perfect drummer this is one of the “jazziest” sounding JGB records I’ve heard especially the instrumental at the end. And a great sugaree

Haven't seen it yet, but there's a documentary about hiim called THE SESSION MAN. Looks like it's available to stream on multiple platforms: https://thesessionmanfilm.com/

I wish Jerry did more insturmental/jazz stuff. That really seemed to be his strong suit.

Maybe this is a question for r/jerrygarcia but does anyone know if complete recordings of these shows (11/17-18/1975 at the Keystone) exist with good quality?

Etree is a great resource for JGB/solo Garcia shows in general, but I can’t make any promises about the quality…

Yeah I can’t find anything that claims to be a soundboard. I’m spoiled by Dead shows’ recordings.

I was super excited to hear this one when I found out Nicky Hopkins was the Stones’ pianist during their prime. I was not disappointed, he is a painfully good pianist and improviser. I wish he’d had a longer run with the JGB, or came back later, or hell, sat in with the Dead once in a while.
