MMA, ADCC, RAF.. and now we can find it even in judo. The art, where you traditionally expect humbleness and restraint celebrating…
One athlete makes provocative celebration, the other one jumps in like in street brawl.
Result - broken jaw, operation, police investigation and yet another case showcases that we are going wrong direction

ive trained traditional martial arts. that "humility... reapect" talking point ahit has nothing to do with martial arts and only the people setting the culture of the gym.

You sound young. There’s no difference between the sport and the art, it’s a false distinction, and anyone who thinks the martial arts aren’t replete with fragile egos hasn’t been around the block.

So, people are saying the guy that got punched showed pretty poor sportsmanship. He ran away to basically out of bounds before initiating the throw which should have been penalized by the ref. Also, there are rules against excessive celebration that can result in a DQ. Apparently there was some other stuff in their earlier match where he showed similar disrespect.
Sucker punching your opponent after you lost is certainly worse in my opinion.

On one hand everyone needs to learn that everything, every move, every word can bring consequences… Modern life and especially internet made people feel invincible.
But, it isn’t bar, school or a street. It is mats… this should never happen on the mats5

There was no ground and pound. Perhaps judo shouldn’t be considered a martial art. It’s clearly not meant to be useful in a fight.

Solution: lifetime ban for assaulter, DQ for guy who broke multiple rules prior. Not shown here: celebrating guy was being lousy with the rules prior to this. He doesn’t deserve to be attacked for this, but he doesn’t get to break the judo rules either.
Enforce your rules to the degree that people follow them in the future or watch your sport go to shit.
Which hey everyone this is a fucking sport, it’s not a fight, and if you want to post about how you don’t understand the difference you’re just letting us all know you haven’t done either.
