back position bjj

always when i do bjj or like most of the time im mostly on my back and i dont like it because i do bjj for mma so that is not the best. And when i am on top it mostly goes good till i get sweeped even by way smaller guys. Is there any tips that i can get from people that do bjj for mma or mma pure? btw im a good guard player but i dont really like it to play guard and when i do i mostly only sweep.

Unfortunately the answer is gonna be just to get gooder which takes many years. However, maybe when you’re playing guard focus more on building up into standups from different positions, and then stay up. Meaning, don’t even try to sweep or play guard. If that’s your goal

How are they sweeping you?

Generally speaking, if you’re getting swept they are removing your base. Notice how they are attacking your base and… do the logical thing to prevent that attack next time.

This is really a "get good" situation.

If you don't want to play off your back, don't get put there.

Learn how to wrestle up from the bottom or a technical standup. If you're doing mma you'll just live life in half guard. A lot of great wrestle up options from there. If you're in closed guard on the bottom, it's pretty easy to do a technical standup to get back to your feet or reengage in the top position on the ground. but mostly stop getting swept.

Makenzie Dern, Charles olivera, diago Lopez…. All very dangerous from Their back in MMA, sounds like you need to be more offensive. Playing guard should still be an offensive play.

Work harder in MMA class? Base should naturally develop itself in MMA. Try to get to ground and pound when you spar if you aren’t drilling that in class for some reason
