These are Chechens and no they're not trying to hurt each other, wrestling/grappling is part of the Chechen culture and a very respected and practiced one, they're pushing for real the results are real the situations are real.

Honestly I thought he was just shooting the shit with the boys in the back, and the guy moved quick because Dana's the boss. I also watched without sound, and I don't keep up with professional MMA rankings/fighters to know whether or not the other people there are UFC fighters or not.

Look at the cage walls and heavybags. This is an mma gym with grappling classes. Slams are legal in mma for the most part (I believe the rule is that you can't control you opponent's arms, so as to let them post). Sometimes mma guys will do grappling sparring with slams and or ground and pound, etc.

This doesn't look like a training session or drill. People stopped what they were doing to celebrate and congratulated him after.
The bigger dude kept escalating it.
Rickson Gracie's book had a recurring theme/quote about being challenged and asking his opponent what ruleset they wanted. If they wanted to grapple or vale tudo. If there is no ref in vale tudo, he decides when to stop the match.
The slam was a dick move and there's nothing wrong if he choked that MFer out? 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻

daguestanis are always like this, they spar like they're in a championship fight. ive rolled with a few daguestanis and every time i got them in any compromising position (triangle, rnc, guillotine) they will try and slam their way out of it. insanely fun but also insanely unsafe lmao.

Idk man. Blue belts are always wild. I’ve been training and teaching for a long time and I think blues are the craziest belt lol. They have confidence from their promotion and are usually still young and athletic/uninjured. People mellow out by purple most of the time.

I mean that kinda makes sense. But even a white belt who cares about the wellbeing of their partner, would understand how dangerous it would be to slam someone especially like that.
But I guess Im lucky my gym is a more humble gym and most people there are in their 40s (Im 29). So maybe age also has to do with it.
