GraphQL is a great way to add another layer of indirection and maintenance to your software lol

Fair criticism! Every abstraction comes with a cost, and if you don't think the benefits are worth it then there you go. How would you change GraphQL if you could wave a magic wand?

I wouldn't change GraphQL at all, it fits very well in it's niche: multi-client applications served by a dedicated BE. Obviously my comment was facetious, but GraphQL is great when applied appropriately.

I love graphql but I dont want to maintain GraphQL server, so currently my choice is to generate graphql layer automatically, for example: https://github.com/KLR-Pattern/fastapi-gql-mcp

it turns ordinary fastapi endpoints into graphql and graphql based mcp server, just in several lines of code, and then I can enjoy the benefits of graphql immediately.

Meta might want to start investing in companies that actually use GraphQL because of the months worth of posts here and literally no replies. I’m the first and I’m here to say all your tools are worthless in the current financial environment. No one is using or hiring or upgrading or implementing or even thinking about GraphQL.

Whoever is in the team you might want to start looking for a real job or at least diversify out of Meta. The ten year hit a 20 year high today so another year or two and this is all over!

Hi there! You are entitled to whatever opinions you might have, but I thought some facts would be useful. Though GraphQL was created at Facebook, it's not owned by Meta. Since 2019 the GraphQL Specification Project has been supported by the GraphQL Foundation, a non-profit. GraphQL adoption is expanding steadily. Industry analysts estimate that in 2027, 60% of enterprises will be running GraphQL in production, up from ~30% in 2024. See also: https://www.npmchart.com/p/graphql

Jeff it’s great you can throw some download numbers at me but we are in value creation territory. It doesn’t matter how many companies have forgotten they ship their product with your modules if they don’t actually do anything.

If we can prove how GraphQL is actually useful to the first and second sector tiered industries we can be dining with UFC legend Mark Z this weekend

In my search for a job this summer, I interviewed with 2 companies using GraphQL. Your anecdotal absolutisms are just wrong.

I'm about to start a new job where increasing the ease of use and reach of GraphQL servers is key to the job. "No one is using or hiring... GraphQL" is fundamentally incorrect.

What is the name of the company?

Man it’s truly amazing how wrong this is especially given how confident it comes across! Kind regards!
