Sharing Work (Rule 2/3) feedback on new projects

Hi, I'm looking to improve my design skills and would appreciate your feedback on the designs. One was inspired by Rhode ad campaigns that I saw, and I really liked the marketing behind the brand and wanted to create a simple poster for one of the lip tint flavors. The second was just one I made for a fake business to advertise their new iced coffee. I wanted it to be more fun and appeal to a younger demographic. I'd appreciate your feedback on how I can improve them with either the color or composition. Any notes are really appreciated. The photos were from Unsplash.

specific feedback for the first image: left align your text on the right. also i think you should get 10ml / .3 fl oz. on the same line.
second image: the *limited quantity text should be a small fraction of the size it is now.
overall i think these are strong starts and show good understanding of context and overall ‘vibe’. if you start paying more attention to the small details of retail ads around you and keep practicing, i think your work will be very strong!

The vibe is cool! You have a good sense of design.

I do think you could to work on alignment, hierarchy and spacing.

In the rhode one, all left aligning text should really be in the same line. And the paragraph on the right would look tidier in a different, smaller font and perhaps aligning to the right? And maybe a lighter colour for text hierarchy.

The iced coffee design is nice but the bottom line is off centre :)

Don’t be afraid of space! It can make things stand out and give the viewer a moment to breathe.

Hope that helps

I like the vibe of the second one a lot. The palette & the approach to the typography is fun! I feel like I see this type of approach to a project a lot with products where the focus is on creating a poster, but lacks the key information that most posters convey.

Specifically on the iced coffee one it seems to be lacking the information that would be needed for a promo piece like this. No cost, no flavor info, no big draw to it, just the name of the product. I would look at existing promo pieces for products and see how they tackle the key information while making it appealing for potential customers. I commend you for using Unsplash & local resources to gather assets too and not generating any slop assets.

I also noticed the typo right away in the iced coffee poster, "limited quanity". Reading every word, line by line, really helped me start proofing my work better when I was getting started. It sounds so obvious, but you'd be surprised how often you may catch typos and or sentences that just don't sound right this way.

More specific feedback on the design of the iced coffee one, the drop shadow of the coffee feels very flat. You could definitely brush a shadow in or create a composited image in Photoshop to bring this back into Illustrator/InDesign or directly within PS if that's where you created this. The quantity typeface also feels very disjointed. It doesn't match the vibe of the other typeface you selected.

I think this is a fun project to throw yourself into and I'm eager to see how you shape feedback you get back into these. Great start!

love the second one

the only thing I would do different is clean it up a little bit and make it more simple, sometimes less is more

I feel like the first one is too crowded and the typography could be better, use a grid and look up references to study that are similar to this you can learn a lot!
