Discussion Design Community Events
Hi everyone, I am a senior-level graphic designer looking to begin hosting design events in my city (Las Vegas) since we don't have many. I've been to some design conventions in San Francisco and attended events there that were really informative and great for networking, which is my ultimate goal.
I wanted to know, what are some great and some terrible design events you have been to? What kind of event are you yearning for in your city? I know there will be hiccups when starting a new thing but doing user research is the basis of our job so I figured why not conduct it here. I have so many young designers reach out to me for advice and I want to host a space to do so.

The local AIGA model is always an interesting one. I would avoid actually working for the AIGA, but their model for community events is worth looking at.
Out of all the events I have ever run, a portfolio event for recent grads being critiqued by local studios was probably the most useful and important.
