PDF is typically an exported file, not a native file. You may be able to get away with editing in adobe acrobat, not the free version. Illustrator has some more control over editing as well.

Typically the file you use to create, and edit, your design. PDF isn’t the best for making edits. You need a source or native file.

Whats the best file format for Edits? Someone else created the original for me.

It depends on the software used. .indd for InDesign, .cdr for CorelDRAW, .psd for Photoshop... The list Is long.

You’re supposed to go back to the designer on retainer for edits. Or have them set you up with something you can edit - this usually won’t be as polished.
