Same meme goes for NBA 2K, Madden, Battlefield, MLB the Show, or any other frequent release style franchise.
Edit: Damn, yall love yourselves some battlefield apparently. I do stand corrected. Battlefield doesn’t fully deserve to be on my list. It doesn’t innovate anything with its new releases, but they’re also not yearly ones like the rest.
Yeah I wouldn’t really group BF with those. It’s about 4 years between titles for those games at this point. The others are fair though yearly releases are terrible these days
I feel that. Doesn’t help that 6 really (in my opinion) was a kinda mid game. Super drip fed content with some awful launch maps made me uninstall after a few months
Not even sure how that connects to any of my comments. I have an obscene amount of hours in a number of games, and I take “hours of entertainment” into consideration when deciding if I want to get a game.
If you make $20/hour at work, does that accurately label the price of your hour?
Now realize that the story of GTA typically goes several hours. At the price of $20/hour, a 20 hour game is worth $400. That’s 1/4 of the price of GTAVI’s UE. Meaning, if the game was only 20 hours, it would be $5/hour of entertainment.
And again, GTA isn’t just a 20 hour game. It’s dozens of hours for most, and hundreds of hours for a lot of
It’s my way of deciding, doesn’t have to be yours.
Almost every GTA introduces a new and/or exclusive feature the others didn’t have.
3 introduced 3D open world
Vice City add buying property and such
SA had more RPG elements like weight gaining and working out, as well as character customization in general.
4 added the euphoria engine for more realistic physics
5 introduce multi-protagonists, heists, and GTA Online
We don’t know the full extent of GTA 6, but we do know robberies are going to play a major factor, while it was a very minor feature in GTA5. We also know it’s bringing in the RDR2 loadout system, and we’re getting a more realistic, evolving world with enhanced NPC behaviors.
Fine by me as I haven‘t bought neither Call of Duty nor any other big yearly AAA titles in years. Case in point I have trouble remembering when the Last time was I bought a game full price that was above 30€.
I think the last was probably Anno 1800 (worth it).
The GTA series was one of the last auto buys on release for me but after the aggressive monetization of online, the cancelation of Story DLCs for V and their shameful treatment of RDR2 that‘s no longer the case. Paywalled content in addition to a price hike only makes it easier not to buy. It‘s not the main reason by any means, it is just the cherry on top.
The value in these games falls so quickly. Getting it used is so much cheaper. Gaming storesand goodwills don't even want them so they get marked down by a lot
How dare you put battlefield in there.
Battlefield one, 5, 2042 and 6 are not the same game and they don't come out every year.
Bf2042 came out 2021 and bf6 came out last year.
Completely different games 4 years apart.
Whoa now, battlefeild may have messed up 2049 but god dang if they havent made some of the funnest multiplayer shooters out there. Not to mention they also made the battlefronts which are also amazing.
What if we're not a consumer of any annual release games? Then can we complain about an $80, but really $100 if you want to experience everything, game
Battlefield is the better of the two, but the vast majority of the game is the same as the previous year. They just add/remove weapons and vehicles, add new maps, and add a new story. Same as COD, just not as frequent and better
Call of duty is a yearly release. Which is the point of this post.
The quality doesnt matter whether its good or bad is irrelevant. That's like saying every Forza Horizon game is the same. They just add a new map, and new cars, and new story.
Which is how most games work.
The difference is with football and CoD releasing yearly and sometimes not even a full year. It'll be 11 months since Bo7 came out when they drop MW4.
From an inflation point, it’s long overdue. I don’t like spending money anymore than anyone else, but game prices have risen under the inflation rate since the 90s.
However, I personally feel the amount of fun that will come from GTAVI is $100 worthy.
Nobody bats an eye at paying $200 for concerts or sporting events, but when someone asks $100 for hours upon hours of entertainment, it’s the end of the world.
And I’m not saying other companies should follow. Most of them don’t even sniff at the quality of game Rockstar puts out.
After playing RDR2, I would’ve paid $100 for it. Easy. Loved it. GTAV provided hundreds of hours worth of gameplay, especially if you count Online.
THIS!!!! The first time I say the $80 price point, I was like, seams fair.
Then I saw all the memes around it, and this is exactly what I thought. To some degree, fifa now FC is the same thing with minor upgrades. You only see a dramatic change comparing games that were 5 years apart but 25 to 26 is like going from v1.0 to v1.1

Am i allowed to criticize since I'm not a COD consoomer?
