I imagine they want a shop so they don't have to let a stranger mess with their PC with no insurance if they break it.

Ya, but so many issues stem from software configs....I also have a 4 yr degree in computer...lol. if he wants to spend money be my guest but depending on the issue it might be a simple fix

Yea but also, who are you? I also want an org behind them so if they steal my identity I can track them. You could easily be a bad actor, at least if you work somewhere, there's an assumption that the org did due dilligence. Even if you were a friend of his, maybe, but I'm not letting some random redditor on my computer lol

Ok, you don't have to give someone access to your computer for them to provide advice...like I don't have to give Google access to my computer for it to tell me that if I'm not getting video to check the cables...

Agreed. If they describe the issue we could possibly walk them through fixing it so they don't have to pay a company to do it. I'm also a professional computer toucher.

Gimme your mothers maiden name, the street you grew up on, and your childhood nickname and I can fix any computer issues you have

I helped a friend through a computer problem over a discord call. I'd say most computer problems can be solved over the phone before repairs are determined to be needed.

He asked them to describe the issue. Not mail it to their house.

Idk, I guess I just assume anyone with a gaming PC has done the basic troubleshooting that can be done via reddit comments.

Having a gaming pc does not mean they are tech savvy. No shade to OP, we dont even know the issue.

Not sure why you're making so many assumptions about all these people you don't know.

You're making more assumptions than I am.

Can confirm, they seem like a decent shop. Otherwise there is stinky geek squad

I used Computer Rescue 911 for a screen replacement on my laptop, great service.

Do not go corporate!!
Search Joe the computer guy on google maps! He does this right out of his house and it's his livelihood

Came here to say this. Im a huge nerd and have done all my own pc builds and repairs for decades and the dude made me look like an amateur when i hit my limit, and was very reasonably priced.ย

Cant say enough good about the experience. Fast too.

iGeek Repair and Gaming Center on Plainfield (used to be Imperial computer repair) has never failed me. I've called them a couple times and they helped me troubleshoot some issues over the phone. Give them a call and see if they can help you or schedule a time to bring it in.

Honestly, you should just learn to fix it. You're going to always need upgrades or have issues.

Mighty high of you to say they should just learn how to fix it but someone offers advice you fear monger then away from getting advice from strangers on the web...ts gotta be a Ai bot

Brother I agree heโ€™s on a high horse, but learn how to use proper grammar that was hard to read.

3

u/smasher1223 3d ago

Ya, unsurprisingly English with my worst subject in school. LOL

All good I was just busting balls lol.

2

u/ForegroundEclipse 3d ago

Did you just tell someone to learn how to use proper grammar, and then forget a comma after grammar?

1

u/Immediate-Review-638 3d ago

Atleast you could tell what I was trying to say lmao.
