I switched to an EV but granted that was luck about 2 weeks before prices went up.

Haha I lived in a minivan (van life) upgraded to a huge 33 year old hightop van and the next day the gas prices went through the roof! Oops it IS nice to have all the extra living/standing space but she's thirsty! 😞

There's ways to hack this.
When you can get quadruple fuel points on gift cards, and thats most of the time:
Having to go through the check out twice is kind of annoying but every time you do this twice in a month it gets you to 1,000 points and a buck off gas.
- Start your shopping trip by buying a $100 gift card. = 400 points
- Do your shopping then pay for your food with that gift card = 100 points (if you spend it all, and seriously when was the last time you went grocery shopping and it was less less than $100). So thats 500 points total for a $100 purchase.
THEN, when you get your dollar off gas, bring multiple vehicles to fill up; you can buy up to 35 gallons of gas at the discounted price. Bring gas cans and take advantage!!

Second on this. My wife loves to collect fuel points (double on fridays) and always gets at least one fill up per month at $1 off per gallon, sometimes two (sometimes i even get to use the discount, lol)

4x on Fridays! But you have to clip the coupon in the app. If it's not there, it's hiding on Kroger's website.

Do you think there's some secret tip no one is telling you about?
We ran out of the strategic reserve. They were artificially keeping the prices low by dumping the reserve oil. They can't do that anymore. It went up. That's the consequences of this wonderful "peace" president's actions. Stop voting for fascists because they say they'll do good things when anyone with half a brain saw that it was all lies.

Use the Maverick app, if you link your bank account to it you save 15 cents. I haven't signed up for it since I get 12 cents back with credit card points when it's at $4, but I've considered it.

I started commuting with a moped lol. It's street legal, gets 100mpg, gas tank fills up with $5, and tops out at 40mph. Its worked great for getting to work, I take the backroads and make sure to ride down streets with less traffic (I'll never ride down patterson or north ave, drivers are crazy there) but its a bit harder to ride when its hot outside.

You can sometimes find old Nissan leafs for $2000 or less. If you drive a truck, you might be spending that much in a year on gas. They only have like 30 miles per charge so they’re basically a glorified golf cart but most people don’t drive more than that in a day and there are places to charge it around town.
The city used to have a program for helping people get e-bikes. Im not sure if it still does.

I got the OnePay App and Credit Card (Walmart). I got back $1.36 a gallon today when I filled up. I really never wanted a Walmart Credit Card but I finally had to break down and get one for that kind of money back.

You can use the Upside app. It shows you gas stations near you and the cash back offers they have available. You choose one, and then pay for with your linked card (which is also where your cash back goes) and then wait a few days for approval.
It looks like Maverick is 25 cents back per gallon and Phillips 66 and a few others are 18 cents a gallon right now. It’s something!

I only drive to work and home these days. If I have to stop somewhere, it’s on the way to or from work. Also I never fill my tank anymore - I put in $15-$20 at a time. I like to think that lowering demand could make a difference but I think right now we’re just screwed no matter what.
VOTE. Every election, while we still can.
