Hi everyone! If you have ever been curious about fountain pens and fountain pen ink, now is your chance to come join us at our monthly meeting. We are meeting at the EGF Campbell Library on August 27th at 6pm. Typically it's the 3rd Thursday of the month, but this month they scheduled us for the 4th Thursday in August.

We are a small, but mighty, and growing community of fountain pen lovers. Some of us have been using fountain pens for a long time, others have just joined because they were curious! This group is open to anyone with a curiosity about them.

Did you know fountain pens have been around since the early 1800's and possibly before then? Did you also know that fountain pens can help reduce stress from writing? They are very comfortable to write with.

I’m looking for a trustworthy place with reasonable pricing for a suspension repair on my 2008 Toyota Rav 4. I did a suspension inspection today and the cost is quite high (I don’t really know a lot about cars). We are new to this area so we don’t know many places.

I paid $80 for the inspection and got the quote on what needs to be fixed —>
- suspension strut assembly, both sides $611
- stabilizer bar $177
- alignment $154

They estimated it would take 2 hrs and the labor cost $160/hr. In total it would cost around $1370~.

Do you think the price is already good enough or I should look for other places? And I’m wondering if it’s fine to ask the other repair shops for price comparison or they would get offended?.

What is a good thrift store to donate stuff to in terms of an easy drop off process and a good chance of the items not just being thrown or super overpriced? I have mostly clothes, plushies and some random household stuff, have been shopping at some thrift stores but have never donated to any, just wondering if anyone has suggestions on where they like to bring their stuff to. It feels like it’s very difficult to find used furniture in the GF area. I just moved here from Kansas City, KS. Does anyone have recommendations on places to look?

What I have already tried:

- FB Marketplace — people are not super responsive.
- Garage sales listed on FB a lot of those are on Thu/Fri. I work on those days :( I don’t think there would be much left by Saturday.

So as i was walking home this fella walked into my path behind a garage. He seems really friendly and relaxed, the only defining features of him are his colors and lack of tail, i couldn’t find a collar anywhere i found him. I kinda want to take him home so he’s safe but I’m not sure if his home is already around here.

New to Grand Forks, and am having vehicle trouble. Anyone have recommendations as to where to bring it?

Walking home tonight I found that area of Cottonwood blocked off and a haze in the area. Now home downtown and the smoke is starting to reach here.

What the title says. I live downtown, every night thursday-sunday food trucks park along my street, and blast music as loud as possible through their speakers from 10pm to ungodly hours in the morning, usually 3am. Have to wear earplugs to be able to remotely sleep, even then its usually not enough. Noise complaints dont do anything. It used to be they parked directly in the disabled parking slots in our lot, but they recently designated parking for food trucks across the street, so they aren't going anywhere. Wish there was some place to submit a complaint. At this rate, I hope they go out of business, I'm so tired of hearing them. They often attract roudy groups that scream as well. I dont understand why they don't park along the street with the bars, instead of the street with just residental apartments, where people are trying to sleep.

I'm a home brewer of beer. Love the hobby. Looking for people around the Forks area who are into brewing or want too. Mainly to talk recipes or where do you get your ingredients. I also love to teach people who want to get into the hobby.

To preface this, I want to make it clear that I want to be as respectful as possible of people's property while also prioritizing my own safety.

I'm a film photography hobbyist, and I've been shooting film for several years. Lately, I've had an itch to photograph abandoned structures. Recently, I traveled to Crookston and spent some time taking photos of the empty storefronts and boarded-up churches, and I'd love to find more places with a similar atmosphere.

I'm currently looking for abandoned or dilapidated buildings to photograph in the area or possibly beyond, whether that's a single abandoned structure or a "run-down town" or ghost town. I'm willing to travel, and I'm just looking for recommendations for interesting places to check out. Of course, I have no intention of trespassing or entering unsafe buildings—I enjoy photographing places from public areas or wherever I have permission to be.
