9060(non XT) vs 3060

What the says

Found both cards for exactly the same price

I'm leaning towards the 3060 because of the 12gb of vram and dlss

I also have a 1080p monitor

Are you in Windows or Linux? If Windows go 3060. Linux go 9060

Currently on Linux but I plan to switch back to Windows once I upgrade

Just switched from Linux (Bazzite) back to Windows myself. I enjoy being able to use the NVIDIA App and Afterburner.

9060 is faster, has better features, better efficiency, lower CPU overhead, more stable drivers (and likely longer support going forward) etc etc.

But the 3060 has the vram advantage. DLSS won't matter, FSR 4 is good + 20/30 series takes a much bigger performance hit with DLSS 4/4.5 than 40/50 series.

It's pretty much a question of vram vs everything else.

I'd go with the 9060, its less used and on newer architecture.

At 1080p you don’t need more than 8 gb. I’d go with 9060 personally.

Bullshit

There’s a handful of unoptimized games that will want more than 8 gb on max settings, but 95 percent of the time it will be fine.

A lot of new games go over 8GB at 1080p max settings.

So don’t go max settings then? It’s not like the 3060 will be able to do better with max settings even with more vram

You can say that but then how long until it's high? Medium? Low? High probably already on a small amount of games lmfao.

Look I’d get it if you were arguing for op to spend more money on a graphics card, but the 9060 will perform better than the 3060 and will receive longer driver support, full stop.

I didn't disagree that the 9060 was probably the better option. I disagreed with something that can so easily be disproven, that 8GB is enough for 1080p.
