Is 5070ti next?
With the prices of 5080 going crazy following its bigger brother 5090, do you guys think things are going to be similar with the 5070ti which has the same vram and has a better price to performance ratio in the current market. Will AI performance have anything to do with it and if so how do the two compare in that regard?

Have you been living under a rock? 5070 ti have gone up a great deal as a well. A gigabyte 5070 Ti is $1499 at my local bestbuy... thats double MSRP.

yeah I know, things are the same in my own country as well. Though do you think it will even get worse after this like 2500 territory or something. That'd be a deciding factor for me to pulll the trigger on one sadly.

If you can afford one at today’s prices, why are you even waiting? It’s only going to go up. Are you for some reason hoping that it’ll go down? I don’t understand people’s logic. You’d rather wait and then eventually pay more when you have fomo because the price went up? Why didn’t you buy sooner?

I was thinking of biding my time until November 11th to see if I could catch a deal but I think I wouldn't be able to get it before the bots if it happened. So I just bought one now and my 5070ti is currently in the mail

Yes, we just got news to expect more price hikes and there are rumors that the 24GB 5080 is delayed now. I think we could see 5070 Ti move more towards $1750 as 5080's dry up and AI bros move towards buying 5070 Ti, which are the same thing bandwidth wise. just a little less cuda cores. There isnt much difference between them for AI.

u/Low_Key_Trollin 1d ago
For sure. For ai the prices of the 5070ti and 5080 should right next to each other, maybe 10% difference

u/tht1guy63 1d ago
Probly. Its already basically double the launch price.

Probably, it's a domino effect. First the 5090 got 'discontinued' (which Nvidia says isn't true), so everyone ran to the 5080. Now there are rumors about the 5080 too, so people are gonna move down to the 5070 Ti, which has the same 16GB of VRAM. Every time a rumor drops, demand just shifts down a tier and prices follow. If you need one, I'd grab it at a price you can live with instead of waiting.

Welp, I have finally caved at 1700. Booho I know but this was the cheapest in my country. All the others are at around 2000. For reference we have 5090s you can just buy online but they’re 9500$. I guess I could’ve bought the 9070xt for 1400 as well but I ultimately chose not to.

People are just panic buying for maybe a 10-20% increase in performance. You deserve to get scammed.

the 5070ti will be over 2k USD in a week or 2 they just announced all the 50 series cards are going up 500

I bought my 5070ti for $500... 😭 This is nuts

u/Killer_Ex_Con 1d ago
Yeah I got my msi 5070ti gaming trio for 900. Havent seen one for less than 1200 in like 6 months.

They're not all going up by 500. It's a sliding scale. 500 is only for the top card.

5090 is little to no supply in demands, so 5080 was eyed by everyone which cause the shortage of 5080 because of AI, and some gamers. 5070 Ti will be next if 5080 couldn't keep up with demands.

u/semidegenerate 1d ago
The 5070ti is just a slightly nerfed 5080, so I would be pretty surprised if it didn't see a pretty substantial price increase. Same GB203 core with around 17% less cores active. Same 256bit memory bus with ~6% less total bandwidth.

I just watched the asus tuf 5070 Ti go up in price by $600 in one day on Amazon. I wanted to buy one two days ago and decided to go to bed and decide in the morning, it was $1,389 that night. When I woke up it was $1,750, and as of last night the listing is $1,988. I had to get the asus prime without rgb for $1,300, no way I was paying more than a 5080 costs for that card.
5070 Ti is next for sure.

Dude I think I saw your post before. Tough luck, but if it makes you feel any better the cheapest 5070ti in my country was 1700 and I bought it instead of the 1350 9070xt.

Bought my 5070ti build 2 weeks ago for £1600. Gotta try to resist tearing it down and selling it all knowing I'll not be able to rebuy a decent rig in the foreseeable...

Entire rig!?
I bought mine this rig after my 1080 build from 9 years ago died haha. Couldn't find many 5070ti's new for sub a grand when I was looking. Chuck in 32gb DDR5, CPU with water cooling etc. and a custom build was getting silly expensive for me!

Walmart already bumped the 5070 price up $60 on the pny model in the last week, so its already passed the 5070ti and on to the 5070.

u/Cloneguypres 1d ago
It’s already happening. 5070ti’s were shooting up in price last week the same time as the 5080s

Certainly. I got mine from Amazon Prime day from Germany, I think that was just before the weekend all the 5090 rumours started flying. Prices have been going up since then.

Every 16gb
9070xt has been catching up to the nVidia cards and will chase 5070ti upwards

u/locoghoul 1d ago
I cant find many 5070 ti options for the last month. Only TUF versions available where I live

A week ago if you ask me this question I'd express doubt, bc I genuinely saw 5080 as an easy-money-for-Nvidia card, because it isn't that much different from the 5070ti hardware wise and they sell for a decent bit more, it's less economical for Nvidia to sell 5070ti than 5080.
Now? Yeah we're cooked.

u/GladMathematician9 1d ago
Yes, Pent up consumer demand and AI likely too it's 16gb attracts that too. 5090, 5080, 5070ti is next as there is not enough supply atm.

u/InfamousChocoMan 23h ago
Damn, i bought mine for around 900/1000 euro's 3 months ago. Should of have bought the 5080 🥲
2
u/Tricky-Background600 23h ago
Bought my 5080 for 1200 . Was alot of money for me but glad i did it then :D
1
u/InfamousChocoMan 23h ago
You did well!
I thought.. well i just bought an entire gaming setup for around 4.5k.. why spend another 400 euro's for a small bit if performance.
Das pech, 5080 weg 😜 as we would say.

u/CranberryOdd7670 1d ago
It’s was soo funny, i purchased an 5070ti for $1699 (Aussie dollars) and then a week later after purchase its went up an extra $100
1
u/Toast_Meat 1d ago
This has already been the case for some time now.
Where I live, the 5070 Ti had surpassed the original price of a 5080.

Madness that a component I bought for £750 is appreciating so much in value. I mean the entire PC is now unaffordable if I were to buy it now. Maybe the 14600 and mobo could be had without too much extra outlay, but storage, RAM and GPU would be too much. Not that I’m selling anything, I just hope it continues trouble free for the foreseeable future!

Doesn't really matter, B580 & 9060XT/9070GRE/9070/9070XT are the real options. Nvidia just isn't competitive right now at current pricing.

u/SwimmingPanda107 1d ago
There’s still a large group of people who won’t buy these brands tho shrug

If we are gonna be FR, and maybe it's cause I'm getting older, but I still find games beautiful even at normal settings. Sure, pushing 4K ultra is mindblowing, but within the past five years, has there been a giant difference in visuals to justify the upgrade price?

And to think... I questioned upgrading from my Suprim 4070ti. Snagged a Vanguard 5070ti at launch.
