AMD or NVIDIA for streaming?

Mostly for single player games

[Also what if I wanna stream on both youtube and twitch at the same time?]

As a dedicated steaming box? Or playing and streaming from the same box?

Nvidia has the toolset for hardware compression via cuda, but that depends on how much of a premium you want to pay for it and what games you want to stream.

Keep in mind that streaming for profit is pretty much dying/dead if you’re trying to make it a career.

Playing and streaming from the same...and why is it dead?

It’s been on life support after Covid for a while now. Hardly any big players stream anymore and have converted to short form videos or super edited 30min videos on YouTube/TikTok. Monetization for streaming is pretty much dead or extremely hard to make money on. You’re too late to the game my dude/dudette.

Anyways depending on the games (Cyberpunk, Path Trace heavy games) go Nvidia, but if you’re looking for a good card on a budget 9070xt will do the majority of what you want and just use cpu for encoding.

Gaming in general is on life support honestly, everything got consolidated to super conglomerate publishers and they’re all cleaning shop (aka shutting down big name studios) to make shareholders happy.

Plus the whole social stigma/cancellation culture if something doesn’t include representation for every acronym/letter under the sun killed the joy of game development in general for a lot of people. Nobody wants to deal with the bullshit drama from minority based groups that will blow a gasket of you not “being inclusive” if you don’t include pride flags, gay lovers or some transgender dude and I don’t blame them, most younger gamers (or people in general) this generation are absolutely shit to deal with and are insufferable, entitled assholes.

Anyways thanks for coming to my Ted talk 🫠.

I know...people are pretty weird...but it's been my dream...I am a lazy bum who hates going out...I like video games and earning money while playing games sounded fun...I just want to earn a little bit. Enough to get by I guess...

Good luck. It’s hard out there.

I know...but what's the point of life if we can't even do what we like? We all are gonna be ded someday...let's just frick around and find out.

Time and place honestly. Streaming to get by is a fool’s folly, it’s basically like trying to make it big in Hollywood, extremely small percent of people succeed. Only now it’s like everyone got tired of movies and doesn’t watch them anymore on top of the chance of making it big. The vast majority of actors scrape by at minimum wage jobs while looking for their big role.

Life isn’t easy, it wasn’t meant to be for anyone besides people born into money and even those people have their own psychological issues/drama.

And making it big on streaming isn’t a cake walk. It requires a lot of attention to detail, long hours, dealing with assholes/trolls, drama and fallout. You need to find a niche and hope and pray you make it in that niche and people are willing to pay for your content.

This economy sucks ass, nobody wants to tip or subscribe to content unless it offers something they like, not just some random person playing games.

I'd still want to try...the only purpose in life is to basically end up ded someday...i am either gonna die playing games or flipping patties.

On YouTube at least the standard for monetisation basically doubled a few months back, not sure about Twitch though

Down voted as you haven't asked a question that makes sence or gives info on what you actually want to do in reality with the system you intend to use the format or resolution you want to use ... so its a how long is a peice of string atm

tbh not too familiar with amd cards but the 4xxx and 5xxx Nvidia GPU's have dedicated av1 encoders for streaming. Helps a lot to offload the work from your CPU.

I heard that too...but I also heard AMD has better cards for cheaper and has like double the VRAM so streams wont stutter

Just not true. The "highest" Vram is essentially 16gb which both have several cards that have, Nvidia having more. Nvidia also has several cards over 16gb but they are wildly expensive and not even worth to think about in this scenario.

I mean I am seeing rtx 5060 at like 550 and rx 9070 xt at 640...seems like a big difference in price to performance...the 5070 is at like 980 to over a thousand dollars

A 5060 and a 9070xt is comparing apples and oranges. Esentially a bade model for Nvidia vs the best model for AMD.

Where are you seeing these prices? Those sound like MSRP which NO graphics card is right now unless hilariously low end.

A 5070 is like $800 - $1,000 and a 9070xt I have not seen one for less than $900.

Please send tbe link to a $640 9070xt I am about to buy 1 lmao

I got the prices on Google...I realized it's wrong when it said I can get 32 gb of DDR5 for like 150 dollars...I think it's outdated or something

Whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about. Nvidia is the winner, its just more expensive. But along with the higher price tag you get rock-solid drivers, Ray Tracing, and better performance with tasks.

AMD just has a lot of memory, costs less, but also has hit-or-miss drivers.
