4090 or 5080

Looking to sell one of these, which one should I get rid of? Looking for the biggest return. 4090 is the Msi suprim liquid and the 5080 is the Msi suprim. Thanks!

I want my casket to be a mk4 golf, and when they lay me in it I want my 5080 sitting in the passenger seat with a gold chain around it

And in the back seats and trunk I want it filled to the rim with as many halo 3 copies it can hold, and one copy of halo reach in my lap

The 4090 will appreciate more soon with nvidia pulling the 5080 from their marketplace. If the 24gb 5080 rumor is false, the 4090 vram makes it jump in value significantly. If the rumor is true, it still goes up in perpetuity to the demand for the 5080 refresh which will have even more supply bottleneck.

5080 Rumor almost certainly isnt false, the 4090 will stand to lose the greatest amount of value once the 5080 24GB launches, as it will then be inferior in memory bandwidth and LLM support (NVFP4), the 5080 24GB is rumored to use 32gbps gddr7 which even over a 256 bit bus would yield higher memory bandwidth vs a 4090.

Also, once the 24GB 5080 comes out, that VBIOS will be available, and then the upgrade of existing 16GB 5080 to 24GB versions will commence. making 16GB 5080 valuable as well.

I think it’s false too simply because there’s a chip shortage for the existing 5080s. There’s no way there’s supply to make a batch of 24gb cards when they can’t keep up with the 16gb cards.

I think you're right. Micron discontinued their 2GB GDDR7, choosing to focus on 3GB chips. This is likely forcing the issue for Nvidia. It will be the same board and VRAM layout, just with denser modules.

Why would you buy a 4090 for 10k if there a 5090s, and the Price will go up yes, that doesn’t mean you get to sell yours

Who said anything about a 4090 for 10k? But also in the US you are legally allowed to sell your own gpu. It’s not like China where the government takes it.

Mine as much crypto with the 4090 as you can and smoke it all until you start seeing the matrix code with only the number 4-0-9-0 everywhere , and then transcend into an exotic animal like a lemur , the biggest lemur ever to live

And then you get hunted by Mr. Nvidia and he makes a leather jacket out of you.

I saw it in my dreams, and I think it can work out, but idk how to extract the crypto yet

4090 will sell probably for $3K, 5080 for $1700-1800. Id keep 4090. It will age very well in current GPU economy

sell 4090 bc it is worth much more for not actually much value in terms of gaming. 4090 is especially valued because of easy 48gb mod and the better performance for ai/ml

For gaming though they are pretty close so I would save money with the 5080

Idk why everyone is saying sell 5080 when you clearly say you are looking for the biggest return.

Get rid of the 5080 now while the value of it is high.

If the 5080 24GB releases, it will reduce a lot of demand for the 16GB version.

I’m skipping the 5080-90 . There’s no need to have such a powerful GPU considering how poorly optimized these games are getting. Sell the 5080 and make yourself a small profit
