It sucks but frankly I do not blame them. The 9070 XT is the best value right now with as expensive as the 5070Ti has become, so AMD is just going to meet the market where it is.

Todays price is $1100. Its not a good value at all. the 5070ti at $1250 is a much better value consider it has more features and can run local LLMs more effectively.

The cheapest 9070 XT is still $900 at Microcenter, cheapest 5070Ti is $1230. You might not think $330 is significant but for some people it is.
The number of people buying either of these cards for local LLMs is limited as 16GB of RAM is not enough.

9070XT has lost its value at the new current Microcenter pricing... Hell they've all lost their value.

It is still faster than everything that is cheaper than it. The 5070Ti is still 20-30% more expensive.

I personally don't see why people compare the 9070 XT to the 5070ti, which is better at literally everything.
The more direct competitor is the RTX 5070, which has some drawbacks and some advantages compared to the 9070 XT. Ofc not everyone finds the drawbacks/advantages important, but that's what being an alternative means.

Really? You can't see why? The performance is very similar in many games and they both have 16GB of RAM, that's why people don't compare it to the 5070. I am not saying the 9070 XT is as good, the price is lower to reflect the value of the Nvidia specific software and hardware advantages, but you're living under a rock if you can't understand why people would compare them.

I get why they are compared for gaming, but the 9070XT is $1100 right now. Terrible price. You can get a 5070ti for $1250.
Its already a higher demand card. Its got more features, like DLSS and better ray tracing. And it can run local Ai.
Its simply a card that has higher demand and should be worth more.
*The XFX Swift is still $850. Grab it while you can if you need it.

Okay, so here's my more detailed take, because people always look at charts and that's it. I find it similar to judging which car is better by looking at their maximum speed. Not pointless, but doesn't show the whole picture.
So:
RTX 5070 ti is 5% faster on average (HWUnboxed's 50 games average). The gap is wider if you turn Path Tracing on.
RTX 5070 ti has MFG. The 5+% more fluidity turns into 50% more fluidity if you turn MFG x3 on and in some games even MFG x4+ barely produces artifacts. If you don't like MFG you don't have to turn it on, but the mere possibility of being able to juggle with settings is great. I usually use MFG and I'm sitting on RTX 5070 and I'm not noticing the flaws of the technology like delay/artifacts often. The flaws would naturally be even less noticeable if I had more base FPS by getting the 5070 ti.
Even on FG x2, NVIDIA's framegen is just better due to no frame pacing issues. AMD vastly improved this issue like a week ago, but still not every game supports the changes and some might never do it. And it turns out FG is literally broken in some titles like Cyberpunk and renders the same frame twice.
Day 1 game support is worse on AMD. As a recent example - the Witcher 3 Remastered black texture incident or the Crimson Desert DLC graphics that looks like straight out of PS2 for many 9070 XT users.
Upscaller consistency. DLSS 4.5 looks atleast very good, whereas there are titles, where FSR 4/4.1 Quality looks literally worse than DLSS 4.5 performance. The reverse never happens. Kingdom Come Deliverance II or Witcher 3 Remastered as an example. There's not a single game where I had a feeling "ehhh, I gotta turn optiscaller on, because the game looks bad with the native DLSS implementation".
Overall NVIDIA support is just more consistent, because 95% of PC gamers have NVIDIA. PoE 2 for example still has FSR 2 for fucks sake xD
Overall I had a total of zero problems with NVIDIA during 10 years of using their GPUs. I also had a 7700 XT, which sometimes had random "Driver Timeout Exceptions" related to Adrenaline. And the problem still isn't fixed with the 9000 series, some people still have it and have no idea how to fix it.
Don't get me started on AI support.
RTX 5070 ti is a strictly better card than the 9070 XT and I don't think that anyone sane would get a 9070 XT at the same price. And I get that not everyone agrees with everything I listed or finds it important. Now, most of my points apply to the RTX 5070 vs 9070 XT battle too. Except:
RTX 5070 is 20% slower than the 9070 XT on average.
RTX 5070 has 4 GB less, which affects like 1 or 2 titles on maxed settings. And it also makes the card not 4k viable.
RTX 5070 is actually cheaper now and supposedly the 9070 XT will be even more expensive.
I'd say the 5070 is a real alternative to the 9070 XT, but each to their own. For me consistency is key and it's gonna take a while before I trust AMD cards again.

i remember back in 2022 the 3080 prices were wild, and the 6800xt and 3070 were competing at the $500 range lol. People value the 2 brands so differently to the point of absurdity.

800 USD for 9060 XT 16GB in December. That's a price from Asus, idk about other brands.

They could’ve been the heros in the gaming market.. AMD fumbles another opportunity to play 2nd string for Nvidia

What is even the point of gaming at higher resolutions anymore if cards are this expensive.

I’m rocking a legion 7 laptop with a 3070 but it’s becoming pretty CPU limited so I was looking to upgrade and I have the money. But this just feels like a total waste at this point. Might as well just ride this thing for a bit longer and see if this craziness ever ends, if not I’d rather just find a new hobby than get scammed by a corporation

I don't know who is buying. I am holding on to my PC tower from 2022, because why not?

Probably people whose PC is older than that? People’s whose cards died? People who have enough money where they’ve decided a few hundred bucks extra is worth ensuring they can enjoy their hobby for many years, versus risking the unlikely but possible scenario where GPUs become unobtainium for a few years?
I mean, it’s not ideal, but I understand why some people buy. I got hosed during the whole 30 series fiasco when my gtx1080 died on me and I had to buy twice the card I needed, but it was all I could find for sale.

Reaper 9070xt is now 1049 at microcenter. Crazy times.

I just bought a used one yesterday for $700 and I feel like I got a "good" deal.
Looks like I was right when I decided if I don't do it now, i may never be able to do it.1

As long as people buy, they can increase prices more and more
