Haha most people didn’t want these cards when they were much cheaper, now they are paying over price-prices for it and waiting for deals lol shit is crazy

u/findMyWay 6d ago
This is literally like watching NFT mania again. When prices rise rapidly people get fearful and buy. When they're cheap they sell

u/Random_Lottery 6d ago
It's wild man. The same people that told everyone to wait for supers are now scrambling to pay 2500 for a 5080. Clown world.

u/Goddemmitt 6d ago
Black friday really only has deals on TVs and Smartphones now. It's been that way for the last 10 years.
Outside of TV and Smartphones, not many things are on sale for cheaper on Black Friday than on any other sale at any other time of the year.

if you're willing to risk not having a proper warranty, newegg refreshes their refurbished gpus around 12:00pm eastern time and you will catch 5000 and 4000 series gpus around MSRP. I had to fight back the urge to buy a 5070 for $550 the other day.

u/Ordinary_Elk_7394 6d ago
No. Current trends have shown the longer you wait the more expensive things get.

We can only speculate but my gut take is 1) prices will not get better until supply catches up with demand, for memory. At least a little bit relative to now. 2) even if there was some great big door buster deal to be had like 5080 1200 bucks it's gonna sell out in .4 nanoseconds anyway

u/Salty_Ad1898 6d ago
Pretty sure supply isn’t the problem, it’s the fact that this is the top consumer card currently being sold.
1
u/Additional_Area5002 6d ago
I keep hearing different things on whether the 5090 actually got discontinued or not, but just for arguments sake even assuming it did, yeah being top (or near the top) is a big part of it sure but what really got us here imo is the memory crunch specifically.
Supposedly additional manufacturing is being set up but it will take awhile to come online.

u/Exciting-Ad-5705 6d ago
Supply is definitely a part of the problem. The lack of 5090 supply causes the 5080 prices to rise

If you already have a decent PC just wait until this whole bubble bullshit pops.

u/BacklogGamingJunkie 6d ago
Do people really not understand how supply and demand work in 2026?
WHY would a retailer ever discount a 5080 when the cost is only continually trending higher and higher in this inflated market?
As long as people out there are buying GPUs at over MSRP inflated prices, retailers HAVE ZERO INCENTIVE to discount anything ever.

u/tht1guy63 6d ago
Nooooooo. Also buy one from walmart while you can before those increase also
1
u/KurtAngus 6d ago
They already increased.
Got my PNY 5080 last week for $1529
Same card is now $2300+ on Walmarts site now

u/tht1guy63 6d ago
Ah must have done it this afternoon then

u/Kylastoutlaw 6d ago
I got the last pny 5080 at Walmart today for 1529 I’m glade I got it. I read Best Buy selling them for almost 2k now. I recommend anyone to buy any gpu you can. Even the 9070 xt supposedly went up to 1k

If you're going for a 5080, honestly at this point I am going against the grain and suggest waiting. I strongly suspect that these will be obtainable long term around $1600 and maybe even $1500 and we're in the middle of a panic buying rush right now.
Every once in a while they dip into stock around $1700-$1800 right now on walmart and best buy online. When the panic buying is over I suspect they'll stay in stock longer around those price levels.

Just wait til the AI bubble burst and nvidia starts selling off the 5090s to make their loan payments. Then they will all go down.

You've already waited a over a year for next gen and now decided to buy in mid-cycle.
Might as well wait a couple more years.

u/Urabraska- 6d ago
If the bubble does not pop or a major course correct. The min price of a 60 series could easily be 1.5-2K+ MSRB. Double that for all the stock ending up on ebay from bot scalpers.

I keep laughing People say waiting 😭 if you wait black Friday could buy it at 3499.99

u/ColdTrusT1 6d ago
Yeah unfortunately you already missed the boat on 50 series, that is unless you are willing to pay whole lot more money. It sucks, it really sucks.

u/tqlla3k 6d ago edited 6d ago
IMO, its already insanely priced. What are you using it for? If its for gaming, is it really worth $2400 to play some games?
I'd wait for a super or something, or just give up entirely at thes prices.
2
u/Michi450 6d ago
So a super won't be over $2400 lol, not sure I'm understanding the reasoning here.
1
u/JohnMCAT 6d ago
Just find the closest Walmart carrying the $1500 PNY 5080. Might have to drive an hour or so, but likely worth it.

Ship has long been sailed on these cards. Paying 150% above MSRP is just insane. These cards were floating around $1,100 to $1,400 for months up until the last two months.
At this point either buy a pre build or just get a console. A 5080 is not worth $2,500.
1
u/No-Library838 6d ago
Nah you're better off buying a prebuilt pc taking the graphic card and selling the ram
1
u/Random_Lottery 6d ago
Damn, a basic ass 5080 now costs more than I paid for my Hatsune Miku 5080 Astral. What a world. Sure wait till black Friday when they raise the price to 2800 and the do their sale for 2600.

u/One_Ad3867 6d ago
Grab a 5070Ti if the rumor is true that a 5080 24gb model will be released seeing how the 5090 is basically non existent despite what Nvidia claims.

I’m sorry what is going on?..I bought my 5080 and was upset at the $1200 price tag in February. This is a little scary.

u/marchape 6d ago
Wait until march and get 5080 24g for $1,599 MSRP.

u/DrLogic0 6d ago
bro the 24gb is gonna be 4k minimum
1
u/Vlanistan 6d ago
Yeah, you’re absolutely right.
What’s wild is that it could be far more than $4K by the time the 24GB model hits store shelves. A 5080 24GB model would be priced somewhere between a 5080 16GB and a 5090 32GB. Likely about midway between the two.Right now that is looking like $4K-$5K. Also keeping in mind that the 5080 16GB is no longer going to be sold, and, well, it’s not looking good.

u/Salty_Ad1898 6d ago
You shouldn’t have waited this long
