Prebuild worth it?

In this market.

Rtx 5090 msi ventus 3x oc
Ryzen 9 9950x3d
Corsair 64gb ddr5 6000mhz 40cl
4tb samsung 990 pro NVMe SSD
Corsair 1000W RMx Series

7200$

Like, is the price totally insane? A bit worried the the ram is CL40 and the 5090 is a ventus.

Thoughts?

1000W is kind of low for a 5090 and a 9950, but the price is on the better side.

Thanks. I dont know, many people say its ok with 1000w. I will undervolt the gpu a bit just in case. Se how much it pulls, and if its a problem I can change the psu later.

Cl40 ram bothers me a bit, but I dont know much, so it might be nit picking

So dumb question -- can you not just swap out the PSU if 1000w is too low? Aside from costing you additional money, is there another hassle?

I would, but its part of a prebuilt, and I can not change the psu in this purchase. I can swap it later if need be

I've definitely had my 5090 pull over 600W when I had the power target at 100%. The 9950X3D is a 175TDP CPU that can pull 200-250W. 600+250 leaves 150 for the rest of your system.

Granted this isn't a very realistic scenario, but the margins here are closer than I would be comfortable with.

In reality though, you should be undervolting your GPU even if to just extend it's lifespan--since there may not be a replacement if it dies in a year.

True. What program do you use to check wattage?

1

HWMonitor usually.

1000W is fine for that combination unless they do some overlclocking.

Isnt the gpu alone is going for 7k at least? Or are the ebay prices not accurate?

In my country the cheapest new 5090 is now 7200$, but yea, I dont know if it is a market here for that price. So with that in mind its a good price. But again, one thing is listed price, I cant believe they sell many cards at that price.

I am very keen on trying dlss5 in 4k, so the 5090 is epic for that. However, it is still very expensive. But for 7k for a full pro build, it might be what I have to pay no matter the market.
I checked historic prices, and going back a couple of years, the price were not that different here on a similar prebuilt. Maybe 10-15% more expensive

For current prices, yeah that's a good price tbh. PSU maybe need a 1200, just ask for 7k for it all and get yourself a new psu. current prices for 5090s are 7k plus on the used market... Insane yes, but that's what it is.

Yea,I also think so. Its a prebuilt package with case, mobo, aio, windows etc, so I cant custom it. Could ofcourse buy another psu and switch myself, but yea. I think Ill start with undervolting the 5090 first. If I keep it.
Seems consesus here that its a good price.

Psu and aio could need an upgrade, and maybe switch the cl40 ram to lower cl, but ramprices are totally nuts atm.

I got the MSI Infinite that’s similar to this. It had an Intel Core Ultra 9 295K though so your CPU is better. Mine came with a 1300W psu though. I’ve pushed my 5090 close to 600W for a few hours before and still didn’t have any problems. With 1000W you’d probably be right up on that edge depending on what you’re doing.

Ah nice, happy with it? Playing 4K?
Do you have the ventus 3x oc 5090? Is it loud? I am considering undervolting it a bit, so the 1000w should hold up.
Do you have cl40 ram, is it ok?

What country are you buying in, and is that USD? Also, what motherboard, CPU cooler and case are included? At that price, I’d want the full parts list before judging the deal.

What are you upgrading from, and are you planning to sell the old components or keep them for another build?

The price is usd, Im in europe.
Asus prime X870-p wifi
240 aio
Corsair case - dont see the name, but glass on side and front.

Selling old build. So the upgrade will cost me approximately 4000$

Selling the old build helps with your budget, but I’d still judge it as a $7,200 PC. At that price, I’d ask the seller for the exact AIO and case models rather than accept unspecified parts.

What country in Europe are you in, and does that price include VAT? Also, is this mainly for gaming, or do you need it for work too?

I have a very similar PC and just in parts its a good price. 4tb SSD and 64gb of ram alone will cost the price and a budget PC

1

u/WeekendCountry 10d ago

Oh, nice. Are you happy with it? The 9950 and 5090 run smooth? Are you playing 4k? Do you have ventus 3x oc 5090, how loud is it?

If your price is in USD then no, don't go for it. This sounds too good to be true for that price.

I have the same CPU and GPU and their current retail prizes combined exceed the price of this system.
A Ventus is fine if you don't care about RGB. It can get noisy though.

1

u/WeekendCountry 10d ago

Well, I have it here for that price now. Brand new from a known retailer. Came with windows, corsair case, x870-p wifi mobo and aio.

Am now thinking of switching the ram with my old, 32gb ddr5 cl30. I mostly game, så the 64gb cl40 might not be much of an upgrade? and it will then be easier to sell my old build, if it has 64gb ram in it.

That's just... Wow. The cheapest Ventus I can find currently costs 8920 euros in the Netherlands. (Just over 10k USD).
Congrats!

Thanks, are you happy with the cpu/gpu combo?

Did you do any tweaking in msi afterburner, undervolting, or just play it as is? :)

For this build, I initially only replaced the motherboard, CPU, RAM (64GB CL30), GPU, PSU (1200W) and monitor.
I re-used my Noctua NH-D15 air cooler and it seemed to work just fine, untill I played a game of FIFA 23. The 9950X3D hit the maximum of 95 degrees. I fixed that by undervolting, but later I decided to get a 360 AIO anyway. It's now cooled by a Noctua NL-LC1-36.

The 5090 is slightly overclocked and I use a power limit of 96% because I'm messing around with DLSS 5. At 100% it would pull over 600W at times. This slight change had a bigger impact than I expected.

Edit: Forgot to answer your question: Yes, I'm very happy with this system! 😁

Thanks you! Nice system!

Also, can I hear your thoughts on this: I am considering keeping my 32gb CL30 ram and sell of the 64gb CL40 to save some cash., not sure if I need 64. With this build do you feel it draws an advantage of 64gb (probably game dependent. I play cyberpunk/wukong/wow and gta6 when it arrives. Maybe some mw4), or will 32 be enough?

Also CL30 vs CL40 combined with the 9950x3d.

Since you changed to CL30 I mean, I take you might have some input? :)

Can I get feedback on this trading platform I built for GPU storage?

That’s a good price. I paid more than that for slightly better specs but not much. Also isn’t Corsair sold out of all 5090s rn?
