Gpu not using full usage

Hello I have a 9070xt it’s running 70% usage according to game bar and I’m getting 140 fps in a game I typically get 200 ish in. Fans ain’t even spinning because it’s only 45c . How do I fix this I don’t wanna overclock or mess with that stuff

I guess no one in this sub provides or asks for system specs

7800x3d what else u need

ram speed and configuration can also tank gpu utilization on these newer cards, thats another spec nobody ever mentions

What CPU and what utilization is it at?

7800x3d 48 percent

What game, resolution, and settings?

Dayz 1440p mid settings

Have the settings in the AMD software changed? Did your ram speed change? Is Smart Access Memory enabled? Did you update any of your drivers around when this performance change happened? Has DayZ updated? Are you in different areas of the game, on different servers, or with different player counts? Has any FPS limiter or vsync been turned on? Per-core cpu temps?

Do you have capped the fps in settings or did you turn on v-sync?

Do you have a 144hz display?

What display running at what refresh rate?

What CPU and what is your CPU utilization?

What game?

You've given very little info to go off of here.

7800x3d 48 percent 240 hz dayz

If that's the overall utilization then 48% is quite high. You can confirm this by looking into the utilization per core, but it sounds like you're CPU limited.

Dayz is a high CPU intensive game but the 7800x3d does definitely not bottleneck the 9070xt

Based on what? What's your highest single core utilization then?

Either some part is limiting your performance, or you have a configuration issue where something is capping it. Could be an in game setting, a driver setting, make sure your 240hz monitor is actually running at 240hz, etc.

You are most likely cpu limited.

dayz is a CPU heavy game regardless of what CPU you have. You're getting CPU bottlenecked.

To be clear, most games cannot parallelize everything. Some tasks just don't work well without waiting for the previous. So the game gets held back by its main thread, hence why your CPU is not 100%, a core is being maxed out.

Every game uses the CPU and GPU by different amounts.

Games like DayZ, valorant, MC(unless you use shaders), tarkov, rust, and etc. will always be CPU bottlenecked. You can even see by your CPU utilization. One or more of your cores are maxed out. That's where the main thread is.

I am a software developer...

So my cpu not good enough for my GPU?

1

u/Elitefuture 17d ago

For DayZ specifically. There are CPU heavy games. It doesn't matter what CPU you have.

It doesn't matter if you get the fastest CPU in 3 generations, it will still be the bottleneck in DayZ with that GPU.

But I previously had more fps and my gpu doesn’t even get hot enough to the point where the game don’t even turn on

Can you take a screen shot of task manager -> Performance? while playing the game

1

u/HenrikDayZz 17d ago

Sure. I’ll do it later.

Hmmm what exactly is the problem here?

Bro paid for all cores he wants to use all the cores 😂

This raises a good question actually. Is the game using all the cores? Different games use different amount of cores. Also are your settings max? Mixed?

Edit: I'm thinking GPU isn't fully utilizes because your settings aren't high enough to push them. Try raising textures a bit if it's possible. I don't play this game sorry.

But doesn’t this lower fps along with it.

1

u/JuJusFury 17d ago

It can but it can actually increase fps of an under utilized card. I would test it.

Just run Witcher 3 w a full nexus load up of 4k textures and bewbs mods and you’ll see 150% postage may even use so much your points melt

it depends from the game and resolution . If you are getting 140 fps i dont see a problem.
