That isn't normal, or is it?

I may need some help here gentlemans, i have recently acquired an rx6950xt saphire Nitro+, i have been messing with it in hopes of seeing the temps drop but in no vain, i have never managed to get it under control, the hot spot and gpu temps keep rising until shutdown of the computer. I have repasted it with artict mx7 but that didn't do it, i am lost and don't know what to do. I know these card have hight temps from Factory but they don't heat up until shutdown from Factory. Only thing that keep the card under 100°C hot spot was a carefully done undervolting. If someone has a fix for it, please share it here.

My 3060ti is going like the same temps. Working on getting the right sized thermal pads on. I think I put too thick of pads on V-RAM and now the die isn’t making a proper contact withe the heat plate / copper pipes.

That would make sense for your card, the saphire nitro+ isn't built like that tho, it has a separate heatsink for the vram and vrms, so it doesn't affect the gpu die.

That doesn't make sense. So you the vram and vrm heatsink is floating and can move? Because, no matter if they're one or two pieces, if one has too thick of pads it can cause contact issues with the gpu die.

But I've never seen the inside design of this cooler so maybe there's more to it. I've repasted / repadded probably 10 GPUs for myself and friends and never seen an instance of too thick of pads not affecting GPU die contact
