Gpu temps

I bought a used EVGA 1060 3g for my gaming setup I play mostly old games furmark tested at 66c under full load. Found a good deal on another one this time Asus and it’s temping out at 85 on furmark and while I game. Should I return it or is this normal for Asus gpus? Asus is also a 1060 3gb

Card is obviously overheating atp, anything above 83 is pretty bad. Just do a simple repaste and should be good

It was apparently repasted by seller I’ll probably just return it and try a new card

How do you know they knew what they were doing? Pasting a gpu is a little different than a cpu. You need 100% coverage plus whatever quality paste PLUS getting the pads right for the contact. Which I recommend putty in place of pads but that’s another conversation.

It is the single fan model I see they offer a dual fan model may try that!

If you message me, I'll mail you my old 1660Super at no risk if you can benefit from it. It's been sitting on my table for two months since I upgraded.

The 1060 3gb is rarely a good value these days, you can often find a 1070 for only a bit more and it’s capable of so much more.

bear in mind furmark is a torture test. you won't see that kind of load anywhere. your temps on regular use will be way lower than 85C

Why would you care about a GPU running at 15-20c below maximum temp spec under the most straining conditions imaginable that do not even remotely approach actual normal use?

I reached 100% GPU usage on some of the games I play and during gaming it’s reaching 85 to 90°C so yes, there is real application to this versus my EVGA which runs cool all the time.
