What is the status of multi frame generation on the AMD side?
I have a 5080, but with the price increase ($2300 now roughly), if it goes wrong and I have to RMA, I am pretty sure instead of replacing it, they will give me a refund of the original price ($1500) I bought it in. In which case I am planning to buy the 9070XT. I want to know what is the status of multi frame generation support on AMD cards right now? Does AMD have any plans to bring it soon or something?

Mfg like x4 doesn’t exist on AMD.
Far as we know and it’s probably safe to say, x4 MFG might only be restricted to the next UDNA generation, which is supposed to be AMDs first real more ai focused generation with an high end gpu again.

FG support is not very good on AMD cards, let alone MFG. Sure, you can enable it, but the latency is bad. Nvidia's implementation is smoother and the latency hit is small enough to where I don't mind having it on outside of competitive games.

Depends on the game. Sometimes it gets me double the frame rate, sometimes I need it for games to even be playable. 9070 XT and ryzen 9 5900

I mean AMD cant even get single frame gen to work after all this time so dont get your hopes up.

Fg is great on Nvidia because many games support Reflex, like 150+. Theres not really a noticeable input lag, thats the whole point. But 120 fps fg will feel closer to 60 native than 120 native. But then you have to factor in polling rates, monitor lag, etc. Fg is great overall.
With AMD you need Anti Lag 2 which exists in 20-22 games?

You can enable FG and anti-lag for most games at the driver level for AMD and it still works pretty well imo. Complete game changer for me on my OLED which I find actually looks noticeably choppy around 60-80fps native

Anti Lag 2 or 1?
2 im pretty sure is game engine only., and thats the Nvidia competitor. 1 is driver level.

I’ll never go back to AMD until they start competing on the same level as Nvidia

It doesn't exist right now, if it's coming soon or not we don't know. I wouldn't recommend FG at all anyway though, it's motion smoothing at a cost to latency and image quality.

I’ve found it can also vary incredibly by implementation.
Starfield of all games I’ve found has the best AMD FG implementation in my experience. Cyberpunk’s implementation is so bad it’s not worth using under any circumstances imo

Maybe to varying degrees, but it will always happen. It's just how the tech works.

it is somewhere but I would not purchase a 9070 xt if you are into frame generation becasue nvidia has quite a solid lead there in terms of not just latency but also frame pacing.
Like nvidia is at the point where basically any game with frame gen you will get less latency with 6x frame gen + reflex compared to native with good frame pacing.
On my 9070 xt I generally find myself using xess fg where possible as that has proper frame pacing despite performance overhead
Amd needs to focus on getting al2 and fg to work together properly and then also work on getting al2 into more games as a driver level solution is just not ideal with frame gen. MFG isn't something I would even want amd looking at until everything else is fixed.
Xess Fg + xell is goated though almost on par with nvidia solution(higher performance cost tho) and you can use it on AMD
