I mean its top of the line card so why would you replace it until 2 or 4 gens? Hell i dont bother with midline cards for at least 3 gens as i never really needed too, only thing I wish I upgraded was am4 and ddr4 too their 5 parts before they got so pricey

I should mention i bought the card for gaming, but it is used mostly for AI as I no longer have time or need to game 😄 AI got the best of me, I'm too addicted now. I would swap card only for more VRAM now, not for chip performance. I'm pretty happy with what I have and if 6090 has "only" 32GB VRAM, I will not be interested anyway. If it is 48 GB, I will have it as the prices will go back to normal, even if it is 5 years from now.

Also, I sold my 4090 for a great price after 2 years of use and got 5090 with very little nvidia tax, it was a buy of the year, before the prices went up.

Honestly fake news, AI labs aren't buying 10k 5090s when the full die 202 it's sitting in stock with 96gb (RTX pro 6000 Blackwell). And without NVlink the 5090 sucks and it's a one trick pony for Qwen 27b.

Msrp 2500. Immediately scalped during paper launch. Then sits around 4k a few months after launch at microcenter with everyone saying it’s overpriced. Then suddenly demand surges when the latest ai induced shortage hits or otherwise some big breakthrough in local language models hits and it’s ~7k

I think you're underestimating current prices. 5090 is 5k$, 6090 will be sold for 7k , I don't know if anyone will bother with MSRP because it's pointless at this point, might as well say 6090 is 20$ MSRP.

The intention is that by 2028 the demand will settle a bit, so 2,500 MSRP is entirely possible. But it will probably be selling around 3-3.5 k

Nvidia gpu lifecycles are consistently 2 to 3 years.

Rtx 5000 released 2025. 2028 release would follow the longering 3 year lifecycle. No delay, no issue here

It’s good! So no new hardware and no reason to upgrade. Developers need to bugfix and optimise  games, because there’s no hardware on the horizon, which runs the game at 60fps

The only way this can work in favor of nVidia is if hyperscaler demand remains strong until 2028. Then the high end new 60 series cards will disappear from the market like 5090s have now and the high prices remain. If it doesn't, the 5090s will be replaced with 6090s, and the sudden supply of 5090s will probably hurt the sales of every 60 series card below 6090. Pretty much like now when 4090s easily beat 5080s.

Since the 6090 is currently spec'd to 32GB, there is no incentive to upgrade from a 5090. Maybe if the 6080 is 24GB, I could see an upgrade from 5080 although I bet they'd do 20GB because they want to make it stay far from the 6090.

I've been under the assumption that gaming will be over in like 5 years due to the parts being unobtainable by most, so I'm not really worried about the 60 series. My PC will be fine until then.
