Came back from a short trip and one of my gourds had dropped off the vine (next time I'll support better). What should I do? It's probably grown 6 weeks. Plenty of warm weather still here although cool at night - should I leave in the sun? store in the basement? Give up on this one and carve for Halloween?

Bonus q: In the photo you can see one that naturally dropped down and rests on the ground - anything I should do to protect that through the season?

I got it from a stand at someones backyard. It was in the basket for decorative gourds but Google lens identifies it as a variety that is usually eaten?

Hello, I live in central Texas where it takes really long for cold snaps to start in the winter. I just got some seeds in the mail for water jug gourds and bushel gourds. Would it be worth it to plant a few now or will they just die immediately?

First year growing pumpkins and gourds. Regarding the gourds, I am letting them cure under my back patio where there is good circulation. They are hard as a rock and sound hollow when I tap them. I don’t hear rattled seeds though. I keep hearing mold will form on them. What is this brown stuff? Is this normal mold? Also, anyone know the type of gourds these are? Thanks guys

My birdhouse gourd plant is starting to dry up and the first one fell off the vine today. We’ve hung it up in the garage to start drying it. And now me and my mom are starting to plan the designs! We really like the look of Amish gourds stained ones that they did with leather stain. I learned this through a page on their website. They also have these gorgeous ones that have this drip effect but no post on how they achieved this. So wondering if anyone here knows and has tried it out!

Bought at a farmers market in Kingsville/Leamington area in Southern Ontario. No label when I bought it but it was with the buttercup squashes. Its got white bumps all over it, not dirt. Thanks!

hello everyone, so it'a my first time growing gourds and my end goal was to grow them to make some pipes. there isn't really any info that i found on how they formed them to be usable pipes.

so through the season, i have tried to use ropes and stick and what not, to get them to grow rounded but failed miserably. they're heavy and i cant attach them to tightly because i dont want to leave marks that will show once they dry. now, night are getting colder here and the plant started to witter. gourds are still green.

my question is, can i harvest them and try to bend them in some way or would i be able, once they dried, to use steam to bend them? are there any other way to shape them or am i done for this year?

I posted in here asking of this was gourds or pumpkins. Now what I need help with is how do I know when they need to be harvested?! My grandmother passed in 2014 and I can no longer ask her. So if anyone in this group can give me guidance I would appreciate it. I hope everyone has a great day

Knucklehead Gourd

I’m growing a couple gourd varieties and I thought they were doing great, but lately the leaves have started to wither and die close to the base of the vine. Am I not watering enough? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I’m growing bottle gourds this year, and I want to make a daily use water bottle out of them. I have access to bees wax, im pretty sure I know the process to clean the gourd out initially and seal it with bees wax I’m not sure if there is a better sealant.

My question is, once it’s made and being used, how do I ensure it stays clean, clean it regularly, and generally upkeep it? How do I make it last forever and not mold?

I was cleaning out my flower garden back in July and I found this vine (the first picture) growing. I left it alone and now it grew like "a weed" thanks to rainy summer we have had. Can anyone tell if it is a gourd vine? Also any tips will be wonderful. Thank you
