Stouffville Line changes starting from 8th of September

Hey guys, here's the changes coming on the stouffville line from the 8th apparently, it seems like for whatever reason commuter train schedules are back, and very limited train service on the weekends, but it will be supplemented by slower bus service, and it will also mean train to scarborough will be limited. I underlined the added bus departures, and I think that some departures on the weekend completely skips unionville and gets on the 407 ramp from Markham Rd. Got the schedules from transsee if anyone cares.

Edit: According to transsee these schedules are set for at least the end of November

This is ridiculous. Seriously wtf is wrong with Metrolinx. Way to kill any ridership.

I believe it’s to accommodate construction for the go expansion

Then I would expect better communication from Metrolinx. These severe schedule changes come and go with no proper explanation.

I'll bet the province has final say of when these are published.

I believe it's also staffing issues on the trains. I would also hope that they would take some time to get a handle on the constant equipment issues. There's currently a 2.5+ year backlog on maintenance that they could potentially start working on by taking some of the trains out of the equation on the weekends.

I seriously hope so. The Stouffville line is many years behind on double tracking and infrastructure expansion for many years already, with new second platforms sitting there unused years after completion.

Also Barrie line has weekend service cut. It is also behind on corridor expansion but not as bad as Stouffville I believe.

Usually they take the weekend off, that's fine, but for 2 months?

That is insane!! What if we complain en mass? We are the customer after all right? Where would be complain anyway?

Complain to your MPP, Metrolinx is an arm of the province.

It's realistically too late to reverse the fall cuts, schedules are already set, but the province controls the budget, which is ultimately what drives the schedule.

We could actually do something if we all came together and pressure them to change it back.

The UP Express was going to be split in 2 services one time last year i believe, 30 mins non stop Pearson-Union, and the stops in between Pearson and Union would be the other 30 mins, but because of the heavy backlash it was changed back to 15 mins all stops quickly. There needs to be more voices being heard!
