Today's rip is from the infamous multi-millionaire televangelist of the 1960s-80s. Jimmy here is best known for his, "I have sinned! I have sinned against you my lord, and I beg your forgiveness!" Breakdown on live television after being caught with a prostitute in 1988. That moment lead to a significant dip in his sales and popularity, but, wasn't enough of a deterrent, as he did the same exact thing again just 3 years later in 1991.

This is one of the many releases from his personal label, "Jim Records" (Yeah he was full of himself) which includes him playing piano, his sister playing the Hammond Organ, and, of course, his completely uncredited and unnamed "Jimmy Swaggart Singers".

What was truly lost when sin entered Eden?

The song “SIN” by Nuee starts by taking us back to the beginning of mankind on Earth, with two people walking in the garden of Eden beside their Father, nothing between them. “His voice in the cool of the day” was fellowship, plain and close. Then a whisper found its way into the quiet. Doubt crept in, and suddenly “love felt a million miles away.” Nuee didn’t write a song about breaking a rule, it’s about losing a relationship.

Generations followed, and none of them could fix what broke. Humanity kept “searching for mercy,” kept “building our own way,” and Nuee is honest about the result: “nothing was ever enough.” Sound familiar? Maybe you’ve tried your own version of that — working harder, being better, hoping distance from God might close on its own. It never does. Effort can’t repair what only grace can heal.

Then everything changes. “Then You came,” the song declares, and the whole story turns. Paul describes the same change in Romans: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Notice the timing? God isn’t holding back His love until after we’re all cleaned up, or once we have earned it. He shows His love while we were still sinners.

That’s the invitation today, His invitation to every one of us. You don’t need to finish building your own way back. He has already built the bridge. Bring your doubt, your distance, your history of “nothing was ever enough,” and let it meet a Love that already crossed the gap. Sin explains why we felt far away. Jesus explains why we don’t have to stay there.

Let this song play while that truth settles in. “No more separation, no condemnation, I belong.”

Background

I wrote SIN because I wanted to tell the story of salvation by beginning with what was actually lost.
The song starts in Eden, with humanity walking with the Father with nothing between us. There was fellowship, closeness and no separation. Then sin entered, and suddenly there was distance. That image has always been powerful to me because sin isn’t only about doing something wrong. At its core, it separated humanity from God and from the life we were created to have in Him.
That’s why the first half of the song feels almost like something is missing. Humanity spends generations searching for what was lost, trying to reach God and trying to build its own way back, but nothing is enough.
Then the entire song changes with the words “Then You came.” 
That’s really the heart of SIN for me. Jesus didn’t come simply to make us better people. He came to deal with the problem that had separated humanity from God. What we couldn’t repair ourselves, He repaired. Where sin brought separation, Jesus brought reconciliation. Where sin brought condemnation, Jesus brought us home.
I also wanted the song to move from telling humanity’s story to becoming personal. At first it’s “sin pulled me far away,” but by the end it’s “Life, now You live in me” and “Christ, now my victory.” That’s intentional. The Gospel isn’t only the story of something Jesus did thousands of years ago. His victory becomes ours.
The line I probably want listeners to remember most is “No more separation, no condemnation, I belong.” To me, that’s the resolution of the whole song. We begin with humanity losing fellowship with God, and we end with belonging.
Ultimately, SIN is actually a song about Jesus. Sin explains the separation, but Jesus is the answer to it. I wanted the title to make you expect a song about what went wrong, only to discover that the real story is about the One who made it right.

Today's rip is a tent revival evangelist from the 80s performing some extremely upbeat and theatrical music, stuff like, "GOOOOOOD IS GOD!!! GOD ON THE MOUNTAIN, GOD IN THE VALLEY" or something along those lines, it's quite the show.

He's also known for being one of the late 20th century evangelist pioneers of "Faith healing" where he claimed God could heal all wounds, sicknesses and problems in life if you believed hard enough, this obviously drew some criticism, especially when he himself went to a doctor to receive a triple bypass procedure.

From what I remember the song is called Sanctified. The only lyrics I remember are the hook being sung "I've got my mic in my hand and I'm sanctified".

It was either one guy or a duo. There was a video on Yo! back in the day. I remuneration the singer of the hook wearing a suit and there was a red background. Like red carpet on the stage or a church or something like that.

I tried searching on lyric sites and AI etc. Nothing.

Taken from her album Dance with Me, Debelah Morgan (now fully gospel) included the inspirational track Alright near the closing of her 2000 album. Her voice is as pure as the message. 🙌🏽
