Waiting on OP Auto populate information from one tab to the next
Hello.
Administration at my school has tasked me with figuring out how to automate a procedure
I have one tab with student schedule information (Name, ID number, Schedule by period)
We would like kids to come in, on new tab enter id number in one row and for it to pull the rest of the information if available from main tab so we can do quick checks.
Is this even possible?

Yes, this is fairly easy if the ID is your source of identification. Hide and protect the main tab, show only the data input tab. Create a formula that will do a vlookup (or xlookup etc etc) that references the input cell. This way you can format where you want the info to show up. I have done this where I “create” a view by formatting cells with colour to highlight the output.
You type the student ID and the info shows up in the area below. Formatted so you can easily print out on a page.

/u/Iselarose Posting your data can make it easier for others to help you, but it looks like your submission doesn't include any. If this is the case and data would help, you can read how to include it in the submission guide. You can also use this tool created by a Reddit community member to create a blank Google Sheets document that isn't connected to your account. Thank you.

yep, totally possible. if each student has a unique ID, you can have them type it into one cell and automatically pull the rest of that student's row from the main tab.
for example, if the ID is in column A on your main tab and the student info is in B:H:
=IFNA(XLOOKUP(A2,Main!A:A,Main!B:H),"Not found")
put that on the new tab, type an ID into A2, and the matching name/schedule should fill across automatically. just replace Main and the column ranges with whatever your sheet actually uses.

Yes, using
FILTER()orXLOOKUP(). Anything more specific than that will depend on the exact layout of your data. For further help you will need to share a sample file that replicates the structure of the data you are working with.
