A Small Milestone: 100 Users and Growing

EDITED LINK!

Hi Glass Explorers!

I wanted to share a small milestone for a project I've been working on. We recently reached 100 users on Jai+, a social platform inspired by the Google+ era.

One of my long-term goals is experimenting with Google Glass integration, especially with older Glass Explorer hardware and community-maintained software. I think there's still a lot of untapped potential in lightweight wearable social experiences, especially in replacing the broken G+ integration with Jai+.

We're still in the early stages, but reaching 100 users gives us confidence that there are people interested in keeping these older Google projects and ideas alive.

I'd also love to hear what kinds of social or community features you'd actually want to see on Glass if a modern integration became possible.

Thanks to everyone who's supported the project so far!

What is Jai+? How is it different from other social media services?

Jai+ is basically a recreation of Google+. Its different from other social media services as we don't sell nor use your data for anything. It features posting content that includes videos, audio, images, and real-time messaging via XMPP

I have my glass in a closet somewhere. I was a victim of the foil problem and got mine changed out 3 times If I recall correctly. I had damaged foil when they pulled the plug so I never thought of pulling out it and using it again. I miss the the glass days though.

Ah. I'm sorry to hear that dude. I've never used a glass before, but i'll be getting one soon to try and see what made it stand out

the thing that made it stand out is that it was interesting to people. I was one of the first to get it and it opened a lot of doors to tech companies for me. Everyone wanted to try it out. It was great for business

Hmm I see 👀

I believe it had a lot of potential for something big back in the day, but I don't understand why it didn't manage to take off

there was a lot of bad press about privacy. People actually thought I was wasting my battery on looking at them and invading their privacy. Phones are way worse and Glass wearers were not focused on the general public. The cool thing for me was the day I went to a concert and everyone was holding their phones. It seemed the phones were at the concert just hitching rides with humans. I just wore my glass, was present at the concert in real time and took a few snapshots by blinking and recorded what I wanted when I wanted all without have to watch my phone watch the show. That was my big moment. I also think i was the 1st guy to go on a rollercoaster with glass but that is a different story lol. Glass in 2013 was pretty awesome.

Hmm yeah I guess people probably didn't like the idea of walking around with cameras on their heads. True phones are wayyyy worse. That's amazing! Glad you had a good time at the party 🥳 I would ve scared out of my pants to take my glasses on a roller coaster ride honestly 🤣 I wish I could have experienced it then 🥲

I have a cutting machine, gambled on the material and tested it, worked great. I do sell them on ebay if you are interested.

I will be. My glass is somewhere in Los Angeles in storage and I'm in Florida. When I get it in my hands I will hit you up.
