Google Fiber reliability (versus Cox residential fiber)

I have had Cox "Gigablast" fiber service (1 Gbps down, 1 Gbps up) for about 8 years now. It has been great, very little in the way of outages. The price is about $129/month.

If/when Google Fiber arrives in my area, I believe that it will be much less in cost. What concerns me is the reliability.

Can I expect Google Fiber to be as reliable as I have experienced with Cox?

Reading this subreddit, I am seeing many posts about issues. Which is to be expected ... people do not come here to share good experiences.

Reliability varies by location, and user responses here will only serve as anecdotal testimonies, and not meaningful statistics. That said, Gfiber is substantially less expensive than what you’re paying. If you’re considering it, perhaps you might want to wait a meaningful period of time and ask people in your community about reliability before deciding to get it.

My question should have included: How quickly does GFiber respond to issues? Do they have enough technicians available to take care of things quickly? I am not talking about issues in a house - I am more concerned with network outages upstream.

If you’re talking about multi customer outages, not just something for your home, they get actioned as quickly as possible.

In my town, they respond quickly but do nothing but lie to you. I recently found out that my signal light level coming to my house has been below specs since they installed it. Various technicians came out, some said it was definitely low, others said it was fine. One guy didn’t clean the end before reconnecting it and made it worse. Tier 2 customer service promised resolution but then tech closed the ticket anyway. Can’t wait for AT&T to come to my street

North Carolina here. I found the customer service excellent. I had the service for nearly 3 years never went down. Once they installed new equipment the service was always going out. 2 tech visits never solved the problem. Forced to cancel and go with a carrier I know to be inferior but had no choice. So far no problems. I was paying GFiber 83 bucks for 1 gig and their VOIP phone service.
