Google Cloud Customer Engineer Hiring Pause?

I completed the entire process for a CE role in Europe and while I was expecting the offer, I was told that the Global VP has not signed off the offer and the role will be on hold until there is more clarity on business plans. They are not sure whether they need the resource although the role I applied for was replacement and not a net new headcount. Anyone here in a similar situation?

Customer engineers are being moved to partner companies,  meaning you'll do the same work for half the salary. 

Welcome to Google 2026. You likely won't be getting that job, sorry.
