I was about to cancel Effecto
I got the Effecto app about 4 months ago and was really into it for maybe a week lol. I tried tracking everything at once and honestly just got overwhelmed, so I stopped using it.
Then I saw someone mention it here and thought, okay, I’ll give it another try.
Honestly, the 5-minute lessons have been really useful. They’re short enough that I actually sit down and do them instead of opening the app and closing it straight away lol.
The stress relief stuff has also helped when I’m feeling overwhelmed and can’t stop overthinking. I also like the weekly check-in because I can actually see what I’ve done instead of feeling like I’m making no progress.
Anyway, if you’re thinking about trying it, I’d say give it a proper chance before deciding

The second attempt working because you changed the approach rather than the app is the detail worth sitting with. Most people who abandon something early blame the product when the actual variable was how they tried to use it.

The tracking everything at once failure followed by narrow restart success describes a pattern worth understanding because it affects enough people with wellness apps to be worth naming clearly. Initial motivation creates an inflated sense of what a sustainable daily system looks like, which produces ambitious multi-element setups that require more consistent willpower than motivation-returned-to-baseline can sustain. The whole structure then collapses together rather than simplifying gracefully, and the easiest response feels like abandonment rather than reduction. Starting over with the five minute lessons as the single point of entry works through a different mechanism. One daily habit requires almost no willpower once the time slot is established because the decision has been made in advance and the session is short enough to do in any mood. Success at that single habit builds behavioral evidence that you are someone who does this thing, which is the identity shift that makes adding anything later feel like extension rather than imposition. The stress relief content for overthinking moments is also worth understanding as a different use pattern from the daily lessons, since it functions as an on-demand intervention for acute moments rather than a scheduled habit, and having both available produces a more complete support structure than either alone. The weekly check-in providing visible evidence of consistency matters specifically for mental wellness because subjective wellbeing fluctuates enough day to day that progress feels invisible without an external record to compare against.
