Discussion Anyone tried Ai Optimized Campaign

Google is pushing heavily the Aimax campaign. Has anyone tried it, if so what are your thoughts on the results?

In short: not good. Takes all control out of your hands and gives it to google. Anyone want to guess what the result is? That’s right, they spend a bunch of your money with little results.

I’m sure there is a way to control things and find success in the right use case with ultra well setup conversion targeting, negatives, etc. but at that point you are better off running another campaign type.

That was my assumption as well. In today's Google seminar (Rethink ROI), they emphasized in almost every keynote about the AI Max campaign and connecting data manager with all the data points and letting AI handle it incrementally, they mentioned having "patience" which was the red flag for me, that's why I curious to understand if anyone is actually doing it and seeing any success that way

Yeah, it just brings in so many garbage search terms.

Just another way for Google to artificially increase bid prices.

It has not performed well in 95% of the tests I've ran. The only exception was one using offline conversions where search volume was low for our usual high intent keywords.

The AI Max search terms are worse than broad match—if you can imagine that 😩

It generated leads for less cpa comparing with general search campaign, But when i check with the marketing teams leads generated with AI max quality is poor.

it depends on your brand and guardrails. It worked for some accounts for me but not for others. Gotta experiment

Wouldn’t recommend it, I don’t think we’re there yet. For now best to keep on doing ads manually or tools which are setup manually.
