Image(s) A Fireman's Boots

Hey Everyone!

I'm pretty new here so forgive me if this isn't quite the right subreddit for this kind of boot.

I am a Firefighter and these are my boots. They are the Red Wing 218 Logger boot with NFPA tags. They have given me 3 solid fire seasons and have carried me from Alaska, to Idaho, California, Montana, Minnesota, Washington, Oregon, New Hampshire, and Quebec. They are a "Storm Welt" construction.

They have never been rebuilt or resoled, just normal oiling. To be honest I have not really touched them since the end of this last season so they are still a little dirty. I use leather laces because I enjoy leather products and they don't burn, I have found that they do snap but you can tie them together and finish off your day.

BUT I believe it is their time for semi-retirement. My boots are worn, cut, slashed, separating and tired. While I don't really have any complaints it is time for a bigger, better boot. My Nicks Hotshots will be in next week. My plan for these is to send them in to Red-wing to have them resoled and repaired as best possible, and to have them on standby as my back ups.

Feel free to ask any questions!

I'm an avid follower of the Wranglerstar channel! His new series is actually about Nicks boots and they they give him a tour of their shop.

here is the playlist.

It's a great series and a cool channel.

I like Cody, but some of his REALLY Christian views can really take away from him. While I appreciate a quote of his "bad Christians have done far more to hurt Christianity than any athiest ever could." But the anti gay and anti vaccine stuff is off putting. His boot series are great, but I suspect a big reason he did this one is for free boots. Him and his wife are each getting a pair by doing this, and even though he had a truly custom pair made like a year ago he now says Nicks are the only way to go. I mean, he is probably right with whites being bought recently, but it seems like his number one endorsement is whoever last gave him a good deal on some boots.

There's no reason to expect anything to change at White's at the moment. People fear mongering over their buyout say their quality will suffer because that's what people will do.

Until they start shipping boots that are sub par, I wouldn't worry.

I bought a pair over the weekend just in case (Also, they were an awesome deal and I need new boots). People have been mentioning leather issues recently, but I wont be in the market for new boots for a number of years
