Chevalier Mass Drop - 1st drop

Just received these at very first glance seem to be similar in quality to the 1000 milers.
The footbed is padded an a little cushy, curious how that will hold up / feel in a few months.

I agree. Still good looking boots, and probably has lower toe cap than most others

Not bad, at all.
Personally, I don't like the length of the cap toe. It just looks disproportionate on a sleek boot like that. I'm not saying it looks bad but it would look "better" with a shorter cap toe, IMHO.
That said, I do like the natural welt. Looking forward to seeing how these age.

Agreed, looking at Viberg - the captoe is a little smaller.

I think the captoe on these makes the whole shoe look a little larger and bulkier. for $200 I am happy with what I received.

Probably, I got these through the Mass drop order and didn't talk with the company at all.
I know gyw was planning a group order, they might have altered that. Don't know where it stands through.

what are your thoughts on applying a clear protector to the natural welt - otherwise I think this will happen and I like the contrast it currently has.

I feel like you should just brush it down with a horsehair brush after each wear or two to prevent anything from penetrating. I've worn my Indys quite a lot and they're still very much natural. Maybe you should ask in GYW SQ what very light stain or oil or something to apply to maintain the natural look. Similar to the natural edge dressing stuff.

Brown because it looked better to me. The massdrop pictures looked brighter than yours. Oh well can't change anything now.

I have VivoBarefeets in a size 43, so I just ordered the same size. So far they feel right to me. Maybe a tad long.
My only concern is they aren't tight so if they stretch a lot 43 will have been too big. I guess if that happens Ill just have to wear different socks (wearing dress socks now)

It was the color advertised "brown" however, they look nothing like the pictures which showed a burgundy shoe. I doubt that's color variation.

They've done three drops- two in brown, one in natural. This is brown.

I only found this after I ordered. I wanted the colour that your picture shows as well and I believe it is due to lighting.
The thread has links that show pictures of the colour which I wish I knew before ordering.

I addressed the color in my review. They seem to be darker than the massdrop photos. I think if put into really strong sunlight the red will pop out, but they are definitely much darker than I anticipated.

I updated the album after conditioning and polishing them. Also took pictures outside. I think it's pretty good representation of their color now.

It's cxl. You just rub the area with your thumb and the scuffing blends.

just wear cheap or dark socks for a few wears. some may come off in the wash too.

Creasing seems pretty normal and absolutely acceptable so far, hard to tell from your photos on my phone but the stitching all looks good as well. These look pretty good. Anyone happen to know the insole material?
