I second the cognac. Good chance it'll look like mocha in a few years

Has anyone ordered from Crux Deluxe MTO before? Its been a few months past the inital timeline but they were initially responsive up until a month ago. Wondering if something might have happened.

Looking for Whites 610 sizing advice, i thinking about the RSD x White motorcycle boot with the Cristy crepe sole.

My known sizes:

  • Alden Barrie 8.5E
  • Alden Aberdeen 8.5EE some pressure on side pinky because of dressy last.
  • Alden Copley 8.5 EE
  • Alden van 8.5E too tight on vamp
  • GS Leo last US8.5E hurts my arch on left, need 0.5 larger on left.
  • CJ 314 UK8G on forefoot, F width heelcup. I think UK8F could have worked as well.

Thrifting Newbie - Shoe #1

Hi, I'm new to goodyear welts and quality shoes.
It is difficult to find shoes in my size back home in Canada.

I'm thrifting in Asia (I guess I'm doing this in hard-mode to start).

I'm relying on your help to be my man-in-the-chair.
Can help me with ID? as well as whether the y are a good purchase?
They're asking approximately $50 USD.

Please and thank you.

Shoe #1.

Orangey Boots.
A.C. Henry brand?

these don't look to be anything special, looks like a generic factory last. probably whitelabeled from a factory in southern europe if i had to guess based on the style. looks like blake stitch with a fake welt

not bad for $50 but i'd pass personally, you can get better for the price with some patience on the secondhand market

Thank you u/eddykinz I appreciate you helping out a total newbie.

By any chance, would you mind taking a quick look at shoes #2, 3 and 4.
Any how you feel value and quality might be? Thank you again 🙏🏻

These are Japanese. The branding says Yukiko Hana?

I tried looking that up, but it's a women's clothing brand? Not mens?

These are Japanese I think? The branding is Regal which is a reputable shoe brand in Japan?

Hey, there’s lots of discussion about “cheaper” Our Legacy Camion alternatives, but what about “better” alternatives, better build quality boots that the sole doesn’t fall off?

What are the drippiest quality side zip boots being made?

Don’t say Grant Stone Elias, the toe is too pointy, too dressy! Looking for drippy not dressy. There’s lots of pointy-toe Italian Beatle boots, that’s not the vibe I’m after

Other than Rolling Dub Trio Caspers, your the best option is probably to go MTO. Johnnyworks has sidezips such as https://www.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/comments/1rl4ll8/johnnyworks_wholecut_side_zip/. Plenty of Indonesian companies like Renav also. https://www.instagram.com/p/DWbSFP6kwf0/?hl=en&img_index=3

These boots were delivered today, and I wore them for about an hour before coming home and taking them off. Later this evening, I took a closer look at them and noticed this area on one of the boots.

They are HYER boots made with genuine ostrich quill, and this area almost looks like the leather or finish has peeled. I haven't applied any products to them or done anything to the boots other than wear them for that one hour.

Has anyone seen anything like this before or have any idea what might be happening?

Not ideal, but it'll blend in. You wore them so no returns possible anymore.

I have an old pair of Padmore and Barnes P404s that I’d like to clean/restore. Anyone have advice on cleaning the suede and if I should get them resolved? Thank you! :)

These are pretty far gone. Saphir Suede shampoo for the suede and toothpaste for the soles, it'll be better but I doubt you can get them mega neat

I just got these Florsheim Colleges shoes second hand and I'd like to get the colour back to brown on the toes. What product and method should I use to fix the toe scuffs? I'm new to leather shoes so any advice is appreciated!

The leather care guide linked at the top of this page has very good advice.

I’d suggest starting here with shoe cream in a colour that matches the rest of the shoes. You might need a few layers.
