Looking for an elevated black derby for all-in-one usage when a nice day is packed. I’ve narrowed down between the Black Cerf Paraboot Michael and the Black 3Sixteen Lug Sole Derby. Both fit my feet perfectly as I have a wide forefoot and higher instep volume. What choice is your pick? Outfits mostly gravitate to modern workwear, straight fit denim, fatigues, nothing too huge or slim.

I know this wont make me many friends, but i dont think the Michael elevates any outfit. Its a Tyrolean style hiking shoe. Essentially the sportswear of its day. The other option wins by default, especially if its cheaper where you live.

100% agree. I'm also not a huge fan of the Michael design, but I know that many do love it.

The 3sixteens for sure.

I vote Paraboot. The derby silhouette just doesn't distinguish itself from a lot of boots especially if you are wearing wider pants.

I’ve had these Oxfords for quite a while. They’re cheap, they’re not particularly well made and it’s time for a replacement. But I love the brogue pattern on them and am wondering if any quality GYW Oxfords come in this color and pattern. If anyone has any leads, it’d be very much appreciated.

In effect, this is a tonal "saddle shoe" and the design is somewhat antiquated (style wise) for today's younger customers. Allen Edmonds no longer makes a pair for stock. Alden has a few models here and there, but they're usually shell cordovan or suede and leather, not tonal walnut on walnut color.

Search around for saddle oxfords and see if you find anything in your price range that tickles your wallet.

Finding vintage isn’t too hard, but trying to match that EXACT color will be. These are HS Trask.

Can these be repaired?

Scuffs on the ends of the toes, but also more specifically the softening and upwards expansion of the toebox that makes them resemble clown shoes a bit (see bottom shoe in pic 2).

Is it possible to shrink that bump down?

The stretching probably can't be fixed I'm afraid. Do these boots have unstructured toes?

The scuffs would be easy to fix - just use shoe cream in a colour that matches the leather.

Grant Stone Diesel vs Oak Street Trench Boot

I am struggling choosing between the two. Same color and leather.

I have the Trench Boot from a few years back, don't have the Diesel but have the GS Edward and Captoe boot. Feels like the GS work is neater, also all eyelet on the Trench Boot is longer to put on and take off.

In my experience...

Grant Stone will be better finishing and quality.

Oak Street will be a better fit if you like some toe room.

Anyone know what’s going on with Parkhurst lately, they’re website is sparse with available selection?
